Lily:
Great! It was only Day one and Lily was already late. She had left breakfast on time with Alice, and everything was fine and Lily felt calm - or at least as calm as one can get on their first day at a new school. That was until they had gotten lost and Alice thought that asking a painting for directions was a good idea. The painting had lead them to the third floor, and Lily almost stepped foot on the floor but, just in time, she realised where she was going. Maybe asking the painting of a clown was not the best idea. At least now they were on the right track, or at least they were according to a ghost, called Peeves, but they were late. Something that Lily in particular did not enjoy.
They were just about to turn a corner until Alice stopped, looked straight ahead, and let out a breath of relief. There, in front of them, was Professor McGonagall, with a stern looked casted across her face.
"Miss Evans and Miss Prewett! I believe you have First Year Transfiguration with me!" She shouted to them across the corridor
Lily ran un quickly and politely to her. "Yes Professor, I am so sorry. What happened was we go-"
"Got lost and asked Peeves, the ghost?" Professor McGonagall said, interrupting Lily, almost as if she could read her mind.
"Yes Professor, how did you know?" Lily said, looking down at her feet, feelingg ashamed and worrying she look like a fool.
Professor McGonagall sighed "Happens every year. Looks like you two were the unlucky ones"
Lily looked at Professor McGonagall "Profesor, I am so sorry for being late."
"I accept your apology. But please, help yourself from more apologies in the future, by getting yourself a map!" Professor McGonagall turned around sharply, and as she walked into the classroom Lily and Alice could hear her muttering under her breath "Always the same every year"
Lily and Alice scuttled into the classroom behind her, and sat down in the last two available seat. Lily looked across the room, and saw Severus, sitting next to a girl with dark brown hair, also in Slytherin. Lily gave Severus an enthusiastic wave, but he only gave a small smile and an gesture of recognition. Lily was taken aback, confused, and even a little bit hurt. What was going on? Was being in a different house from Severus going to destroy their friendship?
Lily couldn't look at Severus, and her eyes wandered across the classroom to a very laid back James. Great! Even James got to class earlier then she did! It was just as she was thinking that Professor McGonagall walked to the front of the classroom, and began describing the syllabus for the school year. Lily opened up her book, dabbed her quill in some black ink, and allowed her studious personality take control.
James:
Unlike Lily, it was as Professor McGonagll stood up in front the class that James started to zone out. He was a little pissed off because he wanted to come in late, under the impression that it would look cool, and Sirius agreed with him. However, Remus said that was no way to start off the school year, and practically pushed them to class, with Peter trailing behind them.
James was sitting next to Sirius, and across from him was Remus and Peter. Remus was paying close attention, Peter looked a little lost, and Sirius seemed to be doing the same thing as James.
James couldn't help fantasising about al the new adventures he was going to have, and he already had one planned. After class, he was going to take Sirius Remus, and maybe Peter to go to inspect Filch's office. It was the perfect day to do it! It was their first day, meaning that they could use the whole 'Ugh sorry we were lost' excuse. And, if anything, he could always use his trusty invisibility cloak.

Lily:
It was lunch time, and Lily was already mentally exhausted, but the excitement helped her stay fully awake. She had barely seen Severus the whole day, and he only seemed to be in two of her classes, which was a bust. There goes her plan to remain friends with him through lessons. She knew that she couldn't let there friendship disintegrate like that. The only problem was that she didn't know how she was going to go speak to him about it, but she knew she had to do it as soon as possible. The Slytherin table was all the way across that hall, and she didn't want to step foot near it. There seemed to be some hate between the two houses, and the last thing she wanted to do was cause any controversies.
Lily waited until Severus got up from the table, on his way to his next class, so that she could just run behind him and try to strike up a conversation. Panting, she finally caught up with his long and swift strides.
"Severus!" She said, walking closely next to him. He looked surprised, but a little bit relieved.
"Lily." He said softly
"Severus, oh my gosh, it feels like it's been a year since I spoke to you, but it's only been a day."
"Yea, I know. This school is crazy - but in a good way. It's just that things keep happening so quickly."
"I feel the same way. I have to get back to class, but I neeeeeddd some serious conversation about our first day at Hogwarts. Meet me after school in the courtyard by the entrance courtyard?"
"Sure."
"Okay great!Oh and by the way, if I'm late, it's probably because I got lost. Again."
"Same goes for me. This place is huge."
"I know right? Well anyway, I'll speak to you later, okay?"
"Okay."
"Bye!" But as Lily said that, Severus had already walked away from her, back to his regular face pace. At least she no longer had to worry about talking to him. Everything with Severus was going to be fine, or so she thought.
