Lily:

Lily looked herself up and down in the mirror

"Do I look like a witch?" Lily questioned herself, adjusting her outfit. Never had she been so nervous - today was the day she was going to Diagon Alley. According to Severus, Diagon Alley was the place to get every magical product. Lily, as well as her parents were very excited, where as Petunia dug her heels in the ground and refused to go

"Why would I want to go to a place full of freaks with cloaks?" She asked coldly.

Lily rolled her eyes - Petunia was extremely closed minded, but Lily couldn't bring herself to hate her.

The plan was to meet with Severus and his mother and then they would go to Diagon Alley. As Lily approached Severus and his mother, she noticed there was a tremendous difference between her parents and his. She was wearing long black robes, and a pointy hat to top it off. Lily's parents on the other hand where wearing cardigans and jeans. Severus smiled at her, luckily he was wearing similar clothes to her.

As they entered Diagon Alley, Lily gasped - it was unlike anything she had seen in her life. The buildings were narrow and tall, and almost twirled in a way that looked like the wind had placed them. There was an overwhelming noise of children laughing, adults chattering and owls chirping. Lily look right and left, and noticed a group of kids looking throw the glass window. Lily could barely look over their heads, but she saw enough to see a broom, with a gold label at the end of the stick that read "Nimbus 1970".

Not looking where she was going, Lily knocked into a young man. He was tall, pale, long blonde hair, with a crooked nose, and looked about 6 years older than her. He stood in front of Lily until he was face to face with her "Watch it" he sneered. He then looked at Severus with a poisonous smile "You too".

"Get out of my way." Lily said, kicking her nervousness aside.

The tall boy scoffed and walked away.

"Who was that?" Lily said in shock.

"That," Severus said "Was Lucius Malfoy"

"How do you know?" Lily asked

"He's in a pure blood family - a family that is full of wizards, no muggles what so ever. He's in year six at Hogwarts. I would stay out of his way if I was you."

Lily looked down, questioning her self on hey being a 'muggle born'. Did this boy Lucius notice her difference, or was he just being rude? She shook off the thought and continued looking into the shop windows. It was not long till she passed a shop called "Ollivanders", and at which point Severus tugged her arm and pulled her in.

She looked around the shop. It was old and dusty, with an broken lamp on the worn-out wooden desk. The walls were covered in boxes, tons and tons of boxes. Lily wondered what was in them.

"The first thing you need to do is buy a wand" He told her as they entered, "It's whats going to allow you do spells"

As he finished his sentence, an old man with big white hair quickly walked to them. He smiled down at Lily,.

"Hello..." He paused. He had a confused look, as he looked at her unfamiliar face

"Lily, Lily Evans" She said finishing his sentence and holding her hand out. The strange man took her hand and gave it a big shake.

"I am Mr. Ollivander, owner of the shop." He then turned to Severus

"Ah, Mr. Snape, I trust your wand is still in one piece?"

"Yes, of course, it is my prime possession." Severus said proudly, puffing out his chest.

"Now, Ms. Evans, let us see what wand is for you"

After trying two wands, Lily finally landed on the right one. It was light and delicate, yet Lily felt like she had never had so much power in the world. The rest of the day was spend buying other supplies, which was a lot of fun for Lily - she was even given the pleasure of being able to buy a Tabby Cat. She called the cat 'Ginger' a name that she thought was suitable. On the way home she kept petting it, because the one quality Lily was known for was her kind heart.

James:

As James entered Diagon Alley, he broke into a smile. His father walked besides him, occasionally shaking his messy hair, and waving to his friends.

"You look quite proud of yourself James" His father said looking down at him

"Well, I am a Gryffindor aren't I?" He replied

"That's my boy! Never denying who your supposed to be!" Fleamont exclaimed, so loud the whole street could of heard, but alas, it was a busy day, and a shout was a whisper in Diagon Alley.

When James arrived home, new books in hand, his father called him upstairs.

"Son," James's father said, sitting on his bed "There is something I have been waiting to give you for your whole life, and I think that now you are in Hogwarts, the time is right."

Fleamont got up and went into his parents cupboard, pulling out a large cloak. James looked puzzled - how was a cloak so important.

"Now, I know that it seems boring at first," He said as he saw James's face "But trust me, put it around yourself"

James's did as his father told him, ad soon enough his eyes widened. His whole body (except his head) was gone!

"It's...it's... an invisibility cloak?"

"Yes, handed down to me from my own father."

"It's fantastic!" James bursted out "I've never seen anything like it! Thank you! Thank you!"

"Of course son, no need to thank me, seeing that you have gotten into to Hogwarts, and I have no doubt you will be going into Gryffindor. Just use it wisely," He said as he winked "And I supposed your mother would like me to tell you to stay out of trouble."

James spend the rest of the summer using the invisibility cloak and practicing spells to prepare himself for Hogwarts, even though the spells weren't educational. At night he dreamed of the Gryffindor common room, seeing himself sitting down right in the middle.
