Chapter 5 - The Sorting Hat

Lily:

"We're here!We're here!" Alice shouted, jumping up and pointing out of the window. The train was slowing down, and out side the window there was a stain station called "Hogs-made Station". As soon as the train came to a stop, Alice ran out of the carriage. Lily turned to Severus

"Why didn't you tell me about the houses, Severus?"

Severus slowly got up

"...I don't know..." He replied

Lily still wanted to discuss the topic further with Severus, but the first students were moving to the front of the platform and she didn't want to get stuck on the train.

"Let's go"

As Lily and Severus got closer to the group of first years, they noticed that there was a tall, round man standing infant of the group.

"First years! All first years gather here please!"

Finally, Lily could see the man clearly, and yes indeed, he was very big. Lily had never see such man. It was almost like he was to tall to be human but to short to be a giant.

"Right, now that everyone's here" he shouted over all the noisy first years "please follow me. I'm Hagrid, by the way"

Hagrid then escorted the first years out of the station, and before Lily knew it, they were walking down a narrow path. As she and the rest of the first years fumbled down the path, she noticed that there was a small dock with many little boat parked.

"Alright, everyone choose a boat and hop on - no more than four to a boat!"

James:

"Oh my" Sirius gasped.

Sirius and James were sharing one of the boats, and they were getting close to the castle. James had heard of Hogwarts's beauty and breath taking sight, but he never imagined it to be this big. The castle was huge! All the first years couldn't take their eyes off the castle, excitement in some of them, fear in others, and an overwhelming feeling in some.

As James, Sirius, Remus and Peter approached the top of the stairs, they saw a middle aged lady standing infant of them. She had a long, velvet, green cape, as well as a large hat. She had a strict look on her face, but deep in her eyes there was a distant sense of comfort.

"Welcome to Hogwarts, I am Professor McGonagall" she said as everyone finally became silent "The start-of-term banquet will begin shortly, before you go into the sit to eat dinner in the Great Hall, you will be sorted into your houses. In Hogwarts, houses are very important, because they will act like your families. You have classes with your house, eat with your house, sleep in house dormitories, as well as free time in your house common room. The four houses are called Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw , and Slytherin" The teacher trailed off, talking about house point, but James didn't pay attention. All he could think of in his head was the thought of getting into Gryffindor.

Before he new it, he could feel people pushing him to move forward, it was time to go into the Great Hall. James took a deep breath in, and took long strides into the all, as confidently as he could. He could see the hat in front of him - it was getting closer and closer to him every second, the curiosity was killing him.

The hat then sang, and the whole hall was silent.

"Oh you may not think I'm pretty,
