CHAPTER EIGHT

THIRD PERSON

The sound of loud wind and quiet voices rang in my ears. I smelt pine, like the air refreshers at the lab, but this scent was stronger, more overboard and lively, it smelt lovely

I fell back and forth through sleep, In something that was moving, but I couldn't tell what it was. I could care less though. my mind wasn't working and I was absolutely exhausted.

I heard a couple words here and there, but nothing made sense.

I finally got a thought though my head, before I found myself falling asleep once again. "Where am I?"

_______

I woke up to shaking of my shoulders, my eyes opened to blinding light, I could hear birds in the distant, flapping their wings and chirping away, I hadn't a clue where I was, or what was happening.

"Brooklyn, wake up!" A stinging suddenly took over my cheek. The light wasn't as bright now as I opened my eyes fully, Martin sat next to me as I looked up at him.

"Did you just slap me?!" I yelled, covering my cheek.

"No- well, yes, you weren't waking up." He shook his head.

"Where am I?"

"Well-"

"What happened?"

"Brooklyn!-"

"Why-"

"Brooklyn stop!" Martin yelled, making me jump, I just looked at him, worried about this situation.

"Sorry. Look, just let me explain." I took his apology and nodded, telling him to continue whatever he was saying.

"We were being chased. We needed to leave...." He bite his lip. I looked down at the blanket on my body, and simply shook my head, confused by his bluntness.

"Is that all?"

"What? I mean, Brooklyn we're in danger, people were trying to take us, and- Brook, you don't understand."

"The lab let me go. I was alone for awhile and then you and Jackson came, so you're right, I don't understand."

"I never mentioned a lab..." He looked down at his hands fearfully. I sucked in a breathe and then breathed out.

"I put two and two together, plus your backpack looks exactly like mine did." I sat up in the tent I realized I was in. The tent had many holes and windows that blinded me by the light coming in, this had never happened before, but I guess I'm not used to the refreshing air. In the lab, there were no windows.

"Where's Martin?" I asked, looking around for him.

"Uh, right here?" He pointed to himself.

"Oh. I meant Jackson?" I grinned at him.

"You did that on purpose..."
