Chapter 10 To Buy Gifts for the Band Part 2

Waking up people like Ban and King was a chore. Meliodas knew that from the day they met. Waking them up to go shopping for girls, made it even harder. Somehow he did end up getting them both out of bed and into their van.

"Why do we have to go shopping today anyway?" King asked rubbing his eyes and lounging around in the back seat. Ban didn't answer anyone and Meliodas was pretty sure that he had fallen back asleep. Which at this point didn't really bother him.

"Because the party is tomorrow," He pointed out as they pulled up to the mall. He jumped out and started to the entrance, King followed closely behind while Ban sauntered behind them. Not a care in the world.

"Damn! I meant to get Diane a present aside from this," King complained practically floating through the aisles looking. Meliodas looked closer at the shirts. While he may not have always shown it, he really cared for his friends.

"Well you can pick something up while we're here," Meliodas said absentmindedly, Ban pulled out a couple shirts showing them to the other guys but they couldn't agree on one. They stayed that way for about half an hour before they decided to just go to a different store. After entering they found and started to agree on things.

An old vinyl record they all agreed Elizabeth might like. A pen that looked like a small hammer for Diane. A pair of long socks for Elizabeth, that to no one's surprise came from Meliodas. A whole bunch of colorful hair ties and clips for Diane. King found some things for Diane that he planned to give her after their party. Meliodas also seemed to find something and hid it behind his back. When they payed for the stuff they had bought Meliodas also payed separately.

Even though both Ban and King both noticed his borderline weird behavior and silently agreed to keep a close eye on him. After they bought the stuff they meandered around a bunch of other stores buying some little things for the girls. After a while they decided to go get lunch at one of the numerous restaurants around in the area.

"Okay where do you guys want to eat?" Meliodas asked as they pulled into tragic and started driving around.

"Let's get tacos!" King announced enthusiastically, Ban rolled his eyes and muttered something about if they had groceries he could make something. But the other two ignored him and started to the taco place.

"So King," Meliodas started looking over at him every couple seconds. King finally looked over at Meliodas. "How are you and Diane doing?" He did a weird up and down thing with his eyebrows that made King uncomfortable.

"Good?" He tried waiting to see how Meliodas would respond, and it made him very nervous.

"Good," he simply replied going back to watching the road. King sighed and attempted to try and turn the tables.

"So Meliodas, how is it going with Elizabeth?" King asked waiting for a reaction. All he got however was a widening of eyes and a nervous glance at his wallet. "Well?" He pressed harder trying to get him to talk.

"How is what going with Elizabeth?" He played the innocence card and looked for the taco place. He didn't realize he had missed it when King had brought up Elizabeth.

"We can all tell you have a thing for her," King stated crossing his arms over his chest.

"I do not have a thing for Elizabeth, besides she's 17 it wouldn't even be illegal," he said pointing out the flaws in King's reasoning.

"Having sex with her would be illegal, not having a realationship," King defended his argument as they looped back around to the taco place.

"Well, that still doesn't mean I, it wouldn't even makes sense if we got together. She doesn't even think of me that way, besides I've done everything to distance us," his voice was tinged with sadness at the last couple of words. Ban finally interrupted them both by saying something equally intelligent and stupid.

"Put yourself out there the worst thing that can happen is you get rejected and die," he laughed and King shook his head. Meliodas just frowned at Ban before turning back to the road. Would it really be that bad if I tried? I have kissed her.

"Either way I still think you should ask her out," King interrupted Ban's laughing. Meliodas shook his head and didn't really answer him.

Eventually they arrived at the taco place and went through the drive thru. Each placed there orders at once and it was no surprise that they didn't all get what they ordered. Deciding to not drive distracted they then pulled into a vacant lot and talked, ate, and joked.

After awhile King said that Diane wanted to go out tonight so he had to get ready. While Ban argued he needed more sleep. Meliodas drove them all back to their shared apartment just off campus.

Even though it had been hours ago Meliodas's thoughts kept coming back to Elizabeth and the way he made her feel. "None of this makes sense. Liz help me now. Help me." He looked out the window and stared sadly at the other collage kids walking around in groups on the campus grounds.

He heard a ping. Elizabeth had sent him a text.

I can't wait for the party tomorrow!

He smiled. Maybe it was a sign, maybe it wasn't. For now he would hope it was and go for the best.

Okay so I just started writing chapter 17 and it's crazy. I am extremely excited about this story and I really really hope you all like it! Also I am writing at least 1 chapter or more per day so I hope to have it all done soon! And these are first drafts with almost no corrections so once I'm done I'll go through and correct grammar and such.
