Thursday 19th. 12:17 pm. Blackwood High.
Hazel's POV
The school bell rang for sixth period as Hazel began to pack her bag. It was a gloomy day outside in the town of Blackwood, the sky was gloomy and rain had been pouring non-stop, which wasn't unusual for this small town, but it was now beginning to bring Hazel's mood down even more as she looked outside and over the houses, trees and large lab which was settled just on the corner of the town. The lab had been built by scientists all over Britain, including Hazel's parents, to experiment to see if they could make deadly, man-killing animals to use in war. The council though, and many other people had objected against this idea as it was serving as animal cruelty but they had carried on with it anyways and now this ugly looking factory was stationed in Blackwood.
Hazel trudged out if her classroom and sighed, she had been having a terrible day today. She had woken up about six times that night, she had also lost her school file and now her most dreaded subject was coming up. German. She slowly sauntered along the edges of the corridor as her classmates ran past her, bumping into her occasionally as they tried to catch up with eachother before their next class.
"So how ya doin', Blane?" Somebody said behind her as they slapped her on back.
"Waddya want, Lion?" Hazel groaned as she turned around to face her friend who was walking uncomfortably close to her. Lion had been her friend since the start of secondary school and had really been her only friend since then. She was slightly smaller than Hazel with dark blue eyeswild curly blonde hair which had earned her the name Lion.
"Nothing," she answered defensively, holding her hands up, "just curious."
Hazel scowled, "i'm fine thanks," she answered as she opened her classroom door and walked in, followed by her friend.
"Miss Blane, Miss Lake," their teacher snapped sternly as they sat down beside each other on their uncomfortable plastic chairs and opened their books," your late."
"Sorry, Mr Gilmore," the girls said in unison as Lion tried her best to hide her giggles behind her hands, but luckily, their teacher didn't hear.
Their teacher grunted before he lifted up a stack of paper from his messy desk. "So firstly," he began, "we're going to st-"
But he was suddenly cut off by a huge bang followed by a few screams coming from outside making the whole class leap in surprise.
"What was that?!" A boy at the back of their class exclaimed, jumping up to run over the window.
"Jackson, sit down!" The teacher bellowed at his as Jackson then obediently sat back down, "it was probably just a science experiment being tested outside."
But as soon as he said that, another bang followed but this one was much bigger, so much bigger than the first one that in fact that the whole building shook.
The class screamed as they leapt out of their seats, including Hazel and Lion, and they ran over the window, knocking over some chairs as other took out their phones to behold the sight that stood infront of them, as now, the place where the lab usually stood with its large chimneys had now been replaced with flames and ashes erupting out of it like a volcano.
The class all of a sudden, as thought a switch had been pressed, had now fallen silent as their screams had been replaced by heavy breathing and silent tears. The classroom door then suddenly opened and a herd of pupils, followed by their teacher came barging in and gathered around the window behind Hazel and Lion to see what all the commotion was about.
Nobody spoke as the flames flickered in their eyes and the smell of smoke filled their nostrils. But all Hazel could think of was the single fact that her parents where in there.Hope you liked the first chapter guys!! :D So basically this is gonna be a joint story between me and the three other people on this account. We hope you enjoy~ flamingllamastickz
