I'm baaaaack my lovelies! Whoa. Did that not sound the teensiest bit pedophilish? WHAT A CREEPER I AM! Rather, WHAT A CREEPER THE WORDS I SAY ARE! I had cake. I am hyper. Sue me. (Second thought, please don't...)

 Chapter 11~

(Ainsley's PoV)

Kyle cupped my jaw and kissed me softly. I froze. What the HELL was he DOING? His other hand came to hold my waist, and I squirmed out of his grip.

"What the hell, Kyle!" I spluttered, horrified. My best friend just kissed me. Out of nowhere. And I was panicking. I didn't have romantic feelings for him! He should know that! I wasn't one of those girls that was secretly in love with her best friend but was too shy too tell him and jeopardize our relationship. It wasn't like that! I was perfectly content being friends, and he just screwed it up.

"Ainsleyitwasn'tlikethatIswearitwasonlyforadistractiontrustme!" he said rapidly, covering his man parts so I couldn't inflict damage. I paused a moment, seething with anger, and tried to calm myself so I could comprehend what he just said.

"It was only for a distraction?" I asked warily, narrowing my eyes at him. He nodded, and sighed.

"It's not like I did it to proclaim my undying love for you, Ainsley," he said bitterly, knowing I didn't quite trust him. "It was a spur-of-the-moment only-happens-once type of thing."

I calmed down a little. "Promise?"

"Promise." he said seriously, before that mischievous fire lit up his eyes in the familiar boyish manner I was accustomed to. I sighed, releasing my tension... and slapped him- hard.

"Don't ever do that again." For one second, he looked absolutely furious, but it disappeared as soon as I blinked, making me wonder... had I really just seen that? He smiled and rubbed his red cheek.

"Aye, aye, captain." He mock-saluted me and I let myself smile a little, trying not to show that I was still cautious and unnerved.

"Is he gone?" he asked, stepping back a bit more to give me my much-needed space. I leaned to the left and searched for Geek, but to my relief, he was gone.

 "Yeah."

 "Good."

 "Better."

"Best!" I stuck my tongue out at Kyle in victory, smirking when he mock pouted.

"I never win that," he whined. I flipped my hair back dramatically and smiled at him.

"I know." The bell rang and we had to scuttle to our classes, and for some reason, I now felt like our relationship was strained...

My hands shook in anger. What the hell was that all about? I closed my eyes and breathed, leaning my head back against the brick wall outside the school. Calm down Nathan, it's not like she's your real girlfriend... my mind taunted.

I gritted my teeth and dug my nails into my palm. What was my problem? A kiss shouldn't bother me this much. I didn't get jealous, so it obviously wasn't that... Could it be I was mad at her for kissing Kyle because I knew he was a jerk deep down inside but tried to hide it from her?

Yeah. That must be it, I decided.

I ignored my mind that was nagging at me for something, and made my way back to class, letting everything fly in one ear and out the other. My classes went by in a blur, and finally I was at Ainsley's side in Home Ec.
