Of All The Stars {Newt FanFic}

Chapter 5

"What's everything?" Ella asked her voice cautios and careful. "Ella people, they're going to die in that maze." He mumbled looking down sheepishly. Ella knew this of course people would die, but it be of them doing something stupid not following their survival training it was a as the instructer put it 'Very rare but possible incident'. "Aris we all know this, but it'll be fine they trained us for this." She reassured. She knew in her heart that if anyone could find a cure for the flare it was her brother, and Thomas they were the smartest people she knew, well they were bookwise smart. But Aris only shook his head. "Rachel couldn't do it, it was too hard we couldn't choose." He whimpered. "choose what?" Ella asked. "You dont understand ella!! You dont know what their asking us to create. " She was sure her brother was overreacting still his words troubled Ella. "Im sorry, Aris." was all she could think to say as her brother cried in her arms. Rachel returned sometime after that and Aris couldnt help but throw himself into her arms. Ella watched in pity as Newts words rang in her ears "He's in Love". 'He might be.' she thought. but then again they were just kids. and even at her age was it possible to fall in love. How could anything so dangerous be given to a child.

Her mind was racing through these thoughts as she passed herdormShe paused when she heard small sniffles from inside. Her curiosity got the better of her as she peeked inside. She caught a glimpse of Thomas sniffling into Teresa's arms. It was odd to see the usually goofy boy in such a fragile state. "Teresa Minhos right your gonna forget me, and..." He paused looking at the girl embarrassed. "everything we have.." Teresa shook her head. "Tom i could never forget you, you my best friend." She cooed as he nodded whimpering. Ella continued down the hall blinking a couple times. Just what were they building in that maze. The thought provoked a deep fear within her stomach as she continued down the hall. 

Elly shook her head shaking away any of what she just learned. Sure she was afraid of forgetting her friends but now the thought of them dying. No she couldn't handle that. She pushed them away continuing down the hall. No matter what happen she promised herself she'd see them again. She'd protect them as best she could. All of them even Gally and his pink hair. It didnt matter if she couldnt remember them. And then came the next anxiety ridden thought. Not remembering Aris and that was when she shut it all down refusing to think one more thought of what was to come. She just had to make the most of her next year here.

"Ella love you okay?" She had ran directly into Newt without noticing it. "yeah." She nodded biting down on her lower lip. Newt frowned that familiar worried frown. He knew when she was lying he could always detect it though to others she was a brilliant liar. He saw it the first time she came here when she told Aris she wasn't afriad, then many other times after that. Times when Minho and Gally had messed around to much as she nodded her head convincing them she was fine. Or when she told warned them against a stupid decision then ended with "fine do it, not like i care." Her blunt words usually cause thomas and minho to frown fearfull she was serious. But Newt knew she did care, she cared a lot more than she let on. And in this moment Ella was lying through her teeth. She in fact wasn't okay. Sure she smiled brightly at Newt and her eyes were dry but Newt could sence that she was worried, well she was always worried espicially with Aris but this was something more. Quickly before he could receive protest he wrapped his arms around her pulling her into hist chest.

Her brown hair tickled his chin as she surprisingly latched onto him pulling her closer. For a moment she he felt her sholders shake. This was the weakest he'd ever seen her. He could only imagine her face stained with tears and even that was enough to cause his heart to break. He didn't speak for fear of embarrassing her. So for a whole long brutal five minutes they stood in the hallway as she silently sobbed into his chest. At some point she pulled back her eyes red but dry. She looked about them with uneasily and Newt Understood completely. She didn't want anyone seeing her in this state so he quickly grabbed her hand and lead her to the courtyard which was empty due to everyone getting ready for bed. They sat beneath a large tree hidden from the windows. Her head restly gently on Newts shoulder as her fingers interlocked with his. "Newt,i'm scared"She Whispered after some time.Scared was a feeling everyone felt but when it came to Ella Newt felt most people forgot she possessed that emotion. He nodded slowly staring out into the dark courtyard. The green landscape seemed to calm the two of them as they sat.

"Whatever happens, wherever we end up we'll always have this you know whether we remember it or not." He hummed as Ella looked up at him they were exiting the courtyard now her arm was still wrapped around his. Ella nodded walking down the hall she was surprised to find she felt safer somehow next to Newt. As they neared their hallway she had almost forgotten the fears that haunted her in the past. They paused a few feet down in between Newts shared with Minho, Thomas,  and Gally, and her dorm shared with Teresa, Sonya and Harriet. "Newt." She mumbled looking up at the boy. "Hmm." The hallway was silent and dim most had fallen asleep already. "Lets Make this Year one to remember okay!!" She Smiled brightly up at Newt her face filled with determination.Newt chuckled. "Yeah, Okay!" "Promise!"she demanded. He shook his head in amusement. "I Promise that we will make this year Memorable." He wrapped his pinky around Ellas. Ella smile grew as she leaned in pressing a quick innocent kiss on Newts cheek. "Thanks Newt" She whispered into his ear before turning awway to disappear to her dorm. 

Newt felt the spot she kissed him burn. He could imagine his whole face was a shade of red as his fingers brushed against that spot. He turned away quickly towards his dorm but stopped mid-tracks. Before him Gally, Minho, and Thomas had been watching with amusement. They began to silently cheer as newt begrudingly walked towards them. Minho danced happily while Thomas kissed Gally's cheek to replicate it. "So you told her?" Gally asked when he reached the door. Newt shook his head in slight amusement but more annoyance of his friends. "No it was nothing like that..." He answered jumping onto his bed. Newt rested his head back staring up at the ceiling. "You know what Minho your right." He stated after sometime. "Tell me something I don't know." He replied. The rest of the boys rolled their eyes. "It is our last year so let's make it Memorable!"
