Of All The Stars {Newt FanFic}

Chapter 10:

The days dragged on with a certain anxious dread that loomed over Ellla. She was practically glued to the computer screen watching over newt, not bothering to fill out her reports. The boy had awoken two days later to a worried Minho punching him in the arm. Ella watched as the event unfolded before her eyes. "What the SHUCK were you thinking?!" Minho shouted angrily. Newt mumbled something that Ella couldn't hear. Not much else was said by the rush in of Alby followed by Gally, Frypan, Winston. Jeff grumbled angrily attempting to give the still badly wounded boy strength. Alby nodded hurrying the large group out deciding to visit Newt later.  Gally and Minho had lingered behind. Both boys dropped the façade as their stiff shoulders relaxed and serious demeanor softened. "You scared the shit out of us shank!" Gally commented eyeing a the blonde hair boy. Newt frowned apologetically.

"Newt, What happened?" Minho asked sitting next to the boy on the bed Gally came to sit on the other side. Newt shrugged. "You've got to talk to us man." Gally urged wrapping a reassuring arm around Newts shoulder. Newt shrugged him off. "I just wanted to collect some vines and fell off that's all." He lied. Gally and Minho gave eachother a questioning look but ultimetly decided not to go into it. "Well be careful newt..." Gally mumbled awkwardly standing up. Mihno nodded. "We can't loose you Newt, Your too important to the glade," Newt looked up at his friend who's eyes were teary. "Your too important to us." Minho concluded. "Newt your our brother." Gally added. Newt absorbed this new imformation and nodded. "I'll be careful guys." He reassured them. The two boys smiled at this said their goodbyes and left.

Ella shut off the computer after that deciding she couldn't watch more. He survived and that was all she needed to know and wanted to know before entering the maze. The next two weeks passed quickly and Ella soon found her self preparing for the maze.  She walked through the now desolate corridors heading back to her room, it was to be her last night in it. The sounds of sniffling stopped her and she peeked into Thomas's room to find a sobbing Chuck.

"Am I going to die?" Chuck asked Thomas the fear in his voice evident. Thomas shook his head wrapping his arms around the round boy. "Of course not chuck, I'll be watching over you."

"Their not going to like me." Chuck frowned. "They'll love you it'll be fine." Thomas insisted. Still chuck shook his head. "I'm scared Thomas." He whimpered. Ella felt her heart break as Thomas nodded. It was evident that Thomas too was afraid for after Newt who knew what wckd had in store for the group. "Listen to me chuck!" Thomas pulled away from the boy looking him straight in the eyes. "I'm not going to let anything happen to you, you understand me" Chuck nodded slightly still sniffing.  "It'll only be for a month, then I'll be up there." "You wont remember me." Chuck frowned. "Were family Chuck nothing can separate us not even wckd draining our memories, even if we don't know were brothers we'll look out for eachother because we'll always have that bound." Chuck nodded hugging Thomas one last time.

Ella backed away slowly from the door deciding she had eavesdropped enough.  She walked slowly down the halls eyes gazing into the empty rooms. About three doors down she found Aris in one. He was laying on the bed hands behind his head as he staired up at the ceiling. "Hey." she interrupted his deep thought. "Hey" He dragged the greeting out shifting to sit up. By now Ella had almost been 18 and Aris who was reaching the age of 16 had grown much since they first came here. He taller than  Ella by at least three inches and his hair nearly fell into his eyes causing him to have to constantly run his hand through it shaking it about. Ella smiled faintly he certainly came far from the scared little boy he once was. "Big day tomorrow.... you nervous?" He asked as Ella took a seat beside him. Ella hadn't given much thought to it, in fact she had only seen it as one step closer to being over with it all and her friends reunited again. "Nah I've got you to look out for me." She smiled nudging him softly. Aris nodded shaking his hair about. "Yeah, Its no big deal." He shrugged attempting to keep up with the air of bullshit bravery. "You really aren't my little brother needing protection anymore are you got your self a girlfriend and everything?" She asked looking him over. Aris shrugged again slowly, but what she said broke him  and much to his dismay his eyes misted over. "Rachels not my girlfriend." He mumbled ignoring the lump in his throat. Ella rolled her eyes. "Right, and you both haven't been inseperable since you were 8." Aris laughed softly at this truth. "I fucking love her." He groaned letting his head fall into his hands. Ella laughed again. "I know you do kiddo." she patted his back softly. "You don't though Ella." He murmered through heavy sighs. "I love Rachel, and you, and chuck, and Thomas, and Minho, and Newt, and harriet, and Sonya, Hell I even love Gally. Your my family and I don't know if I can protect you all." He shivered head still hung low in his hands. Ella felt her heart drop as she was reminded of the stresses her little brother had to handle.

Aris shoulders shook as he finally let out a much needed cry though it was soft and almost undetectable. "I still want you to protect me, I don't want all their lives in my hands I can't take it." He cried. "Aris," She spoke firmly lifting up his head with one hand the other slipping over his trembling hands. "Listen to me, Were gonna make it through this, all of us Okay! Your brilliant and I know you and Rachel and Teresa and Thomas can get us through this. I trust you Aris, and I'll always protect you no matter what." Aris whimpered slightly shaking away his tears as he softly nodded. Ella wrapped her arms around him allowing him for one last time be the scared little boy hiding beneath his older sister. It took all of Ella not to cry with him. That night the six slept in one room just as they did the first time they all left.  Rachel huddled up next to Aris the two slowly drifting to sleep. Chuck soundly asleep on Teresas lap his hand loosely wrapped around Thomas's. The three older kids stayed up late that night reminiscing of better times. "Damn I miss them..." Thomas sighed leaning his head back. Teresa nodded looking down motherly towards chuck. "He'll be okay..." She mumbled softly pressing the back of her hand to his cheek. "He's stronger than he thinks." Chuck was the youngest out of them having only just turned 15 and in a way babied by the rest of the group. "Check on Newt for me please." Ella yawned as she slowly felt herself drift away.  Thomas and Teresa exchanged sympathetic looks towards the sleepy girl, as the nodded. "I never did tell him I loved him back you know." Ella confessed bitterely. The two nodded again sympathetically. "You'll see him again Ella don't worry." Teresa assured her as they began to drift slowly to sleep.

The next morning was a blur she was saying goodbye for the last time and though she had wanted to Ella couldn't really focus on any of the heartfelt goodbyes. "Be good to him." She had whispered into Rachels ear before realesing her from the hug. She was about to go when Aris pulled her aside. "Take this." He whispered quietly slyly handing her his matching moon charm bracelet. Ella looked up at him strangly. "Aris I'll see you in like a month." Aris nodded. "I know this, is just in case. So you can look after it the same way you looked after me." He explained. Ellas smile softened as she caressed the small charm. "I'll see you soon." She whispered hugging him tightly. Before she knew it, it was just her and chuck standing on the other side of the doors waiting to start the rest of their lives.

Chuck stood beside her anxiously shaking. "Hey," She cooed reaching out for his hand. Chuck thankfully was still shorter than her making her feel tall. "Everythings gonna be alright." Chuck nodded attempting to be brave but his grip around her hand tightened and when they called his name he didn't let go. Instead he envolped her into a big hug holding her just as tight as he held her hand. "Chuck you'll be fine I promise." The smalled boy nodded his hair ticking just below her chin. "I'll look after Newt for you Ella." He promised her before bravely walking off with the nurse. Ella mouthed a thank you as she watched the boy walk away.

Ella had waited a good five minutes before they took her away. Within a short ten minutes she was laying on a table being told to count backwards. Her grip on the charm tightened as she slowly began to count aloud. She felt her heart race as last minute regrets creeped in. All that ept her on the table was the knowledge that soon in however many short months she'd see him again. That their job to Wckd would be over and she and her friends could live peacefully. Then she could finnaly say it those four words that have haunted her thoughts the past two years. "I love you newt." And with that her world went black.
