James, of course, did not keep to himself the next morning like I'd hoped he would. He was back to his annoying self, hanging around outside the school with his friends. Johnny and I had walked to school together today, and he noticed the bruise on my face that I'd failed to have time to conceal with make up. I don't wear make up every day like most girls my age do, I use it for totally different reason that include my father. Johnny asked what happened, and I told him I tripped and fell. He seemed to have bought it.
James noticed the bruise, and he didn't hesitate to call it out either. "Hey, RyRy! What happened to your face, did your fuck buddy have trouble seeing in the dark?" I grit my teeth together, getting ready to just walk right past them.
But then Brian said, "Or did you disobey and got beaten?" That made me stop dead in my tracks, and I spun back around and walked right up to him, getting in his face.
"You don't know shit, asshole." I growled before turning around and walking away. Three of them started laughing, one of them didn't. James seemed to be taking what I said a little more seriously, like he knew that I meant it in some other way. But then he covered it up by joining in with their laughter and jokes, and before I entered the building, I heard him say,
"Looks like we got a feisty one here."
I stormed off to my locker, and Johnny followed me even though his locker and homeroom was at a different end of the school. He struggled to keep up with me as I walked at a fast and swift pace, already wishing my day was over.
"Hey! What was that about!" Johnny called after me, and I glanced behind me to see him actually jogging to keep up with me.
"What was what about?" I asked sullenly.
"When you told Brian he didn't know shit after he made that comment. What was that supposed to mean?" He asked. So he caught onto that double meaning thing, too.
"Nothing." I lied. "It's just to throw him off. I have to say things like that every now and then or it gets worse."
"Oh, ok." He sounded somewhat convinced. "Well, I guess I'll see you later. I gotta get to my locker on the other side of the school and not be late to class."
"Ok, see you around." I called back. I opened my locker and started distributing things in and out of it. It was taking me longer than usual because I was still fuming over Brian's comment. I know that I probably shouldn't let it get to me because he's just a regular jerk, but he didn't know how close to the truth that was. It makes me incredibly angry, and I'd love for him just disappear.
When I finally finished getting things into my locker, I shut the door, and jumped when I saw James's face right behind it. He was smirking at me, obviously happy that he'd scared me.
"Jesus Christ!" I hissed, turning away for a second as I tried to catch the breath that I lost.
James laughed. "Yes, praise him."
I gave him a very dirty look. "What the hell do you want? Shouldn't you be at your locker, if not actually getting your books, being an idiot with your friends?"
"What are you talking about? This is my locker." He said, motioning to the one beside mine.
I furrowed my brow. "No it's not. Your locker is around the corner, further down the hall."
"Oh no, you see, my locker got busted, and now the school has to fix it. So, this is my new locker, which I'm here to move stuff into, right now." He smirked again, opening the door on the locker and then unzipping his bag after setting it on the ground, starting to put his books into it.
