On New Year's Eve, Jimmy walked down to my house and waited here for Zacky and Grace to come pick us up with me. Jimmy had gotten permission from his parents to just stay the night at my house, so when he came he'd brought a backpack with his stuff in it. He greeted me at the door with a hug and a kiss as he always does, dropping his backpack by the door, and we sat in the living room for about ten more minutes until they finally arrived. Then we went out and met them at the car, climbing into the backseat of Zee's car just like the night that we went to the dance.
My father had disappeared again, he was home for Christmas Day and then that night he just got up and left. Every time he leaves I always wish that he'd never come back, but he always does, unfortunately. Hopefully tonight won't be the night he comes back. On Christmas Eve I got lucky, and it'll be a while until I'm that lucky again, if I'm ever that lucky again. Surprisingly, in the time that he was home, I didn't get beaten. It was kind of nice waking up in the morning and not being so sore, but at the same time it was unsettling. If he's not doing it right now, then what will he do later on? It could be much worse than a couple punches and throwing me around against the walls. I mean, what if he gets his hands on a knife or something? Every night that's what I think about before I fall asleep without being able to help it, and then I get some of the worst nightmares and I wake up in cold sweat with my heart pounding, wishing there was someone to tell me it'd be all right. Maybe someone like my mom, but I know that's not possible.
As Jimmy and I got in the car and sat down, both Zacky and Grace greeted us and we greeted them back. The first thing we were going to do tonight was go out to eat, and so Zacky headed to the restaurant we all agreed on prior to tonight. On the way there, Zacky asked what we did for Christmas so we told them about how I came to spend Christmas Eve with Jimmy, and then they told us what they did.
When we arrived at the restaurant, we had to wait a moment to be seated. I was standing beside Grace with the boys just in front of us, and she nudged me. I looked over at her and she motioned with her eyes to my necklace. I nodded towards Jimmy and grinned, and I think she about died from the adorableness. I mouthed to her that I'd tell her more about it later, and then we were taken to our seats at a booth. It didn't take long for us to get our orders for drinks in, and then those came soon enough too.
Jimmy sat close to me, keeping one arm around me while we waited for our food and took sips of our drinks. The place was pretty busy tonight, which was expected given that it is New Year's Eve. After we eat, we're going to go to the park for a while where there will be fireworks at midnight. We're eating late, with it being past eight now, so that we won't be there for more than a few hours. But I'm sure, we won't get bored being with Jimmy and Zacky.
Zacky said, "So, Jimmy, when do you plan on telling Matt and Brian about you and Rylie?"
"When we go back to school Monday, I guess. I mean, they're gonna find out when we get there anyway because we're not going to hide from anybody." Jimmy replied.
Zacky nodded. "How do you think they'll take it?"
"Like a bullet." He joked, smirking. Zacky laughed, and then he added, "Honestly, I'm not sure. They'll be shocked, I know, but I'm hoping that they'll be true friends and just accept Rylie."
"I think they will, and if not at first, they'll come around eventually. Even though we had just become friends when you told me how you felt about Rylie, I was still shocked but I didn't flip out. As your friend, I just want you to be happy, and even if Rylie and I weren't friends, it wouldn't be different. I wouldn't have the right to deprive you from being with her. I'm sure Matt and Brian will be the same way, and once they get to know Rylie for who she really is, they'll become friends with her too." Zacky told him, and then he looked at me, smirking. "You're not that bad, Spencer."
