4 MONTHS LATER

Rylie's POV

Now, as we have entered the wonderful month of June, us seniors were beginning finals and getting ready to graduate this weekend. It seemed so crazy, and it was a little sad because I would be leaving my gnome behind as he is only a freshman, but we had already promised to stay in touch. I told him I would still try to help him with his homework, even while I'm in college. I've been accepted to California State University in Long Beach, to study Graphic Design. It'll be a four year course, and it's only about thirty minutes away from Huntington Beach. That made Jimmy particularly happy because he had been worried about me going far away. It's actually quite impressive that I was accepted, because all of the Bachelor of Fine Arts majors there are what are called "impacted majors", which means that more people will apply than they can accept. So, competition is quite hot for these courses. I happened to be one of those accepted, and I had been so excited when I got the acceptance letter. Barbara and I had jumped up and down and screamed in the kitchen, which of course startled Joe who thought something had blown up. Jimmy had just been laughing at our reaction until he congratulated me with a hug and a kiss, and later they took me out to dinner to celebrate.

As for Jimmy, of course, he is not going to be attending college in the fall and all for one reason that is fairly obvious. He, Matt and Zacky want to focus on their band, and try to get signed. I guess it was quite the discussion between he, Barbara and Joe that I had not been present for because I had been at work. They felt that maybe he should still apply that way if he's accepted to somewhere nearby they could find a time when he's not in school to practice and go after a label. But Jimmy told them that simply wouldn't work, he needed to be available all the time because they were going to start playing gigs to get noticed and he couldn't do that and focus on schooling at the same time. Somehow, probably miraculously, he convinced them. They made him promise that if it didn't work out, he would have to apply and just attend later to ensure he has a good career elsewhere. I have faith that they're gonna get signed, though. They're so good, and have decided to name the band Avenged Sevenfold officially. They recruited one of their friends from school to play bass, and things have been coming together nicely. Jimmy was honestly just grateful his parents were letting him participate, where Brian's parents felt strongly about him going to school and getting a job.

Last weekend was prom, and that was so much fun. Jimmy did everything he could to make sure it was special for me. I wore this beautiful light blue, long, strapless dress. The top had silver and blue sequins on it. Jimmy matched very well, the vest underneath his jacket being the same shade of blue, as well his tie. We had gone out to dinner before the prom with our friends, at the same restaurant we ate at with Zee and Grace on New Year's Eve. But, before we had even left the house, Jimmy surprised me with this giant teddy bear he had gotten for me that had the words, 'I Love You' stitched into it's tummy in big red letters. It was so adorable, I was grinning like an idiot when he presented it to me. Of course, I named it after him and called it my Jimbo Bear. Jimmy slow danced with me every time the opportunity showed itself, and they even played I'll Be by Edwin McCain, which was the song we had danced to the night we started dating. We took lots of pictures before we went too, some of them serious and some of them silly. It was just a really great night, one that will not be soon forgotten. I couldn't of asked for anything better.

After Jimmy's birthday, I had gotten a job at a convenience store in town. I worked from the time I got there right after school around three until six every day. And then on the weekends I worked from nine until noon. It's not exactly thrilling, but whatever gives me some more money to put away for both college and to one day fix up my old house and make it usable again since it is mine now. Since things had calmed down, I thought it was finally time for me to get a job.
