The week seemed to pass by agonizingly slow now that I was all excited for this dance I thought I wasn't going to until Jimmy asked me to go with him. But finally, Friday night came and Grace walked with me to my house. The night before she'd brought her dress and stuff to my house because we were going to get ready together at my house. It had been decided that Jimmy and Zacky would come in Zacky's vehicle and pick us up at seven-thirty, as the dance started at eight. Jimmy insisted that he pay for my ticket for me, and I decided to let him because he was willing to put up a battle about it until I agreed. I was actually kind of nervous feeling, but I think it's from all the excitement. A few months ago, had you told me I'd be going to do the dance with someone who was once my greatest enemy, I would've told you to stop taking drugs.

Now, it was six-thirty, so we decided to start getting ready. We'd made macaroni and cheese for dinner so we wouldn't be all hungry later. We went up to my room and I our dresses out of my closet, handing Grace hers. I got the shoes out and set them on my bed for us to put on a little later. While we got ready, we listened to music off the radio.

We got our dresses on, and then we did each other's hair. Grace wanted hers straightened, so I straightened it for her. I decided earlier in the week that I wanted my hair curled and Grace happily curled it for me.

Once our hair was done, Grace put in her earrings and I found a silver necklace that was my mom's that I put on. While she was focused on getting her earrings in, she said,

"So, do you think Jimmy will finally ask you out tonight?"

"I don't know." I shrugged.

"I can make it happen, y'know." She smirked deviously.

I shot her a look in the mirror. "No! Do not tamper! He asked me to go to the dance with him because he wants to make it up to me for being such a jerk before."

"And because he looooooves you!" Grace sang out. I rolled my eyes. "C'mon y'know it's true! And you loooooove him too!" She poked me in the stomach, and I laughed because it always tickles when she does that.

"Stop it! I am not responsible for any injuries you receive if you tickle me!" I warned.

"You're not denying it!" She exclaimed, smirking again.

"Of course not." I muttered. "Because then I'd be lying."

"D'awww!" She cried out, and I just shook my head.

Grace finished getting her earrings in and then we got our shoes on. I turned off the radio and we studied ourselves in the mirror for a few minutes. We smoothed down our dresses and adjusted our hair to where we wanted it to fall.

"Pretty good." She said, and I nodded. "Not great, but good." I burst into laughter and so did she before we both headed downstairs to wait for the guys.

We'd been sitting on the couch for maybe fifteen minutes when Grace saw the headlights come up the driveway. We waited for them to come knock on the door while I turned off the TV and the lights, and then I heard the knock on my way to the entryway with Grace. Then I remembered that I hadn't turned off my lamp in my bedroom when we came downstairs, so I said to Grace,

"I'll be right back, there's something I forgot to do upstairs." She nodded, and I turned and quickly headed up the stairs while she let them in.

I went down the hall to my bedroom and went over to my lamp, turning it off. I checked my hair one last time in the mirror and then headed back downstairs, hearing the voices of Zacky and Jimmy. I could hear Grace telling them I'd be downstairs in a moment, which was actually very accurate. I hit the last step on the stairs and then rounded the corner, coming back into the entryway.
