The Art of Symmetry (Death the Kid x Reader) Part 2

You and Kid became better friends than you even thought you guys would. Sure, he could be annoying with his non-stop ranting about symmetry, but he was a better friend than you could ever imagine. He even became a good battling partner after you found your weapon, Rex, who is a demon sword. You and him were almost as close as you and Kid were. By battling Kid with his weapons, Liz and Patty, you and Rex got powerful quickly.

All of your previous battles with Kid hadn't been full-out since both you and Rex were still getting the hang of it. But after months of training, you were finally going to have a full-out battle with Kid and you were planning on winning it.

"Are you ready?" Rex asked you as you hesitated to open the door that led into the front of the school where the battle would take place. As much as you wanted to win the battle, you were still nervous. There was going to be a lot of people watching, you didn't want to make a fool of yourself in front of them.

"I'm fine, just nerves bothering me," you told him honestly.

Rex crossed his arms and gave you a look. "You'll do fine, (F/N). We've been practicing for months, we're great a team."

You nodded in agreement. "You're right, I'm just overthinking things too much. Let's go."

You pushed open the doors as a new sense of confidence washed over you. Once your eyes landed on the huge crowd of people waiting for the fight to begin, you froze up. Rex put his hand on your shoulder and whispered, "It's okay, you'll do great."

You nodded even though you weren't convinced. So many meisters and weapons would be watching your every move, you couldn't afford to mess up.

"Ah, so you've finally arrived," Kid said from the end of the courtyard. Liz and Patty were standing close behind him looking excited for today's battle. If only you were able to have the same confidence.

"Yeah, I'm here. Are we going to get this battle started, or what?" you said, faking the confidence you lacked.

"I see your confident. What a shame that it will soon be crushed."

"Look who's confident the confident one now. Are we going to talk all day or are we going to battle?"

Kid smirked and turned to his weapons. "Liz, Patty. Ready?"

"We're ready, Kid!" Patty said enthusiastically before her and her sister turned into their weapon mode. Kid caught them mid-air and stood in a perfect battle stance.

You turned to Rex and nodded. With a quick nod from him, he transformed into a demon sword.

Before the battle could start, Stein came into view as he rolled closer on his chair.

"Try to make this fight quick," he told you and Kid. "I locked Black*Star in the classroom so he won't interrupt, but I don't know how long that will keep him contained. Oh, and try not to kill each other. But if it does happen, I'll have a new specimen to dissect," he finished with an evil smirk. You learned long ago that he wasn't joking when he said things like that.

You looked at Kid and nodded. When he returned the nod, you both rushed into battle, you wielding a sword and him with two guns. You managed to take a few steps before Kid began to fire at you. You dodged the majority of the bullets but the ones that were too close to dodge you used Rex to deflect them.

"How are you holding up?" you asked your partner as you continued to dodge bullets.

"Alright. But could you try not to use me to deflect the bullets? They really hurt...," he replied.

"Those bullets are the least of our worries considering that I can't even manage to get close enough to attack him. He really is going full-out."

"You'll have to be faster. I know you can do it. You're going to have to use me to deflect the bullets whether I like it or not. If you manage to get close enough to him you won't have time to dodge them."

"I'll try it," you said before charging at Kid. The bullets were shot at you in a fury but you dodged and deflected each one. It became harder and harder to get closer to Kid the more you proceeded, but you didn't give up. With one big jump, you were close enough to Kid so you swung the sword at him which he easily dodged. He skidded away from you but before he could raise one of his guns to shoot, you were already charging at him again. You swung your sword again and this time Kid didn't manage to completely dodge it; the sword cut through the fabric of his clothes. He looked up at you, anger coursing through his eyes.

"It's not symmetrical anymore," he stated angrily.

"Oops?" you feigned innocence.

"That's it. No more going easy on you."

That whole time he was going easy? you thought worriedly. Shaking his words away, you charged at him again. He stopped using his guns and decided to show of his regular fighting skills. Several times you had to block one of his kicks which almost always sent you skidding back. When you did manage to get close to him, you barely did any damage to him at all. The battle was going on for too long, it was time for you to end it.

"Let's end this now," you said to Rex. "Soul resonation!"

As your souls resonated, Rex grew bigger until he was a huge and even deadlier sword. At the same time, Kid and his partners were resonating their souls as well. When you were both done, the two of you had scary looking weapons on your side, Kid with two gigantic guns in each hand.

"Execution mode," Kid said to his partners. As Liz and Patty began to charge up, you charged. You were only a few feet away from him when Patty said, "Ready to fire!"

Kid placed his fingers on both triggers and you raised your sword, ready to swing. Before either of you could make a move, someone jumped in front of you both.

"I am Black*Star! I am the best of the best, I'm a God! You fools cannot contain me! HAHAHA! I'm the star here so step back and watch me shine!"

"I was afraid this would happen," Stein sighed.

Rex turned back into his human form and crossed his arms in annoyance while Kid's weapons stayed as they were.

"I guess this battle is over?" you asked Kid.

"Not quite yet. Liz and Patty already stored up this much energy, we wouldn't want it to go to waste," he replied.

He aimed his twin guns on the clueless Black*Star who was still ranting about how amazing he was.

"Won't that hurt him? You probably shouldn't," you told Kid.

"Yeah, you're right." Before he turned the guns away from Black*Star, a powerful blast came from the gun and sent him flying back.

"Oops. My fingers slipped," Kid said.

"At least it shut him up," shrugged Rex.

You all burst into laughter, Liz and Patty returning to normal as they also were in a fit of laughter. The battle ended in a draw but you did enjoy yourself as did everyone else.

"We should probably be heading back now," Kid said. "We can have another battle soon."

You and Rex gave each other a nod and grinned.

"Sure," you said. "But next time, we'll win."
