Veronica POV:
I ended up falling asleep on the couch and woke to a loud bang against the door. I really hoped it was Xavier.
I open the door and see four guys. One of them crying, it was Oscar, Xaviers best friend. "Hey, Oscar. A-are you okay?" I ask, my voice really shakey.
"Ve-Veronica. I tried." I gesture for them to come in, and they slowly but sublty came into my dorm.
"Oscar, please tell me. What's wrong?" I ask desperately. My eyes land onto their shirts. One of them had on a with shirt that was splashed with red. The other had a grey shirt with the same red, and I felt my stomach tighten in knots.
"Veronica, it's not what you think." I stand up and walk backwards trying to get away from them.
"Where is Xavier?" I asked, wanting to run and scream for help, but I knew better.
"That's what we're trying to tell you... but you have to come with us." I shook my head slowly no, there was blood on their shirts, and he wants me to come with them, that's crazy. "Trust us, Xavier asked for us to bring you to him."
"Then where is he!?" I yell.
"We are trying to take you to him!" He yelled, voice way stronger than mine and I also flinch a little.
"I need some time." I smile weakly.
"Time isn't in our side, not this time." He reached his hand out as he put his head down. I could see blood wedged deep in his finger nails. My instincts tell me to go with him. I reluctantly grab his hand and he gently squeezes it. "We can change our shirts if it bothers you." I nod my head. He tells them to take their shirts off, and they did, they took then off and threw in my garbage.
We walked to the car and Oscar drove and I wasn't allowed to sit in the front seat. I had to sit in between the two muscular broods as one of drove in the passenger.
I watching the building go by and I looked at the guys. They had no face expression and they were just as stiff as steel. "Oscar, are they even human?" I poke one of them and his eyes shift down, looking at me, sending a weird shiver down my spine. "I know you want to laugh, I can see it in your eyes." I tell him. He looks at the guy on the other side of me then at Oscar.
"They're unable to laugh, well on duty at least."
"What are they robotic body guards, with no emotion chip?" I ask.
I see one of them smile, and the smile too. But he goes straight faced when he looks at Oscar. "They're body guards, so no they don't have a emotion chip."
"Who's body are they guarding?" I ask.
"Yours."
"Why?"
"Because, Xavier told them to."
"Since when has anybody listened to him. I don't even listen to him over half the time." All three of them smiled, but Oscar stayed the odd man out.
"You might not, but we have to."
"Why?"
"It's not my place to tell you."
" 'Its not my place to tell you'." I mimicked him. The boys smiles turned into chuckles.
He stopped and we were in front of a oversized mansion, how's that even possible? "What are yalls names?" I ask.
The one that sat in the passenger seat was the first to answer. "Mason."
"Jace." The one on my left said.
"Omar." The one on my right said.
"Aw. I had a husky named Omar, he got cancer and died." I frowned. He had a worried expression on his face as he looked at Jace and Mason. "Don't worry, you're not a dog." Jaces eyes went wide and Masons did too.
The boys boxed me in and opened the doors to the house. All the chatter quieted down at the sight of.
People were saying stuff luke. "It's her." "Luna." "That's the Luna." "Our leader is cute." Even more, I was so confused.
"Do you like dogs?" Oscar asks trying to keep my mind off of this.
"Yes, I love them. I loved them since I was a little girl. I had helped rescued a little pup, I named him Jax. My mom told me it was a wolf ever since then I loved them." I smile to myself.
"Describe him."
"He was just a grey, white, and like a sandy orange fur." I corner my lips. They all look at each other, next thing I know is that Omar had ran off. "Was it something I said?" I ask.
"No. Do you remember his eye color?"
"How could I forget they were green. The vet said he was special."
"Anything else about him?"
"Ya. I had to let him go, because my mom said he was getting big and that he was dangerous. But I noticed throughout the years he'd come twice every two months, and I catch him up on things. Xavier met him once, but after they met. I never saw him again." I frown.
"When was the last time you saw him?"
"Four, five years ago. But I guess it was for the better, I'm a sophomore in college. So even if he did show up, I wouldn't've been there to greet him."
We kept walking in silence, then we stopped in front of a two door room. Oscar opens it.
The first thing I saw, was Xavier. He looked over at me and smiled. "Thanks, Oscar."
"Xavier. What happened? What's going on?" I ask worried, as I snuggle close to him.
He eased at my touch, and I didn't understand what was wrong. "I just want to be with you right now. I'll answer any questions you have tomorrow, okay love?"
I could see he was in pain and I wanted him to have what he wanted right now. I lay my head gently on his chest and whisper, "Okay."
