Xavier POV:

I move slowly from underneath Veronica as her head lied in the crease of my shoulder and arm. I'm not leaving the room, but now I oddly have the energy to finish my work.

I started placing everything in their well organized piles so I don't shuffle important papers with pointless paper. I would go to my office but I don't want to leave her, God I am grateful for V, and seeing her in our bed thinking about our baby and our future I feel so accomplished. This is just perfect.

Finally finishing this dreadful work I managed to do, I did the finical stuff and Abby is on her way to check on it, because if there's errors it can mess with my money and I don't want that. It's just the worst part is I have two more stacks in my office at the pack house waiting for me, but I don't want to leave V, I just can't.

I hear a doorbell and I know it's her and but I don't want to leave her. The doors locked so it's not like Abby can just walk in, I damn myself for not getting the house security app on my phone.

I put on my sweat pants that were left lousy on the floor and decided to bring the papers with me so she can work in my home office, and have her own area to concentrate.

"Hey, Abby." I greet opening the door. "I'm sorry I made this a house call." I say apologizing for the fact that she had to come here. It's not a far distance because I do need to be close by the pack house at all times just in case of emergencies.

"It wasn't a problem," she smiled, "I can always use the cardio." She said genuinely.

Abby is 26 years old, she measures around 5'3 or 5'4. She has dirty blonde hair, not an Omega but still keeps to herself. Occasionally she'd go to parties but mainly would volunteer her time to watch the children. An excellent and well motivated fighter, and an only child. Gifted in anything that has to do with knowledge.

The walk to the office isn't far but the fact that there is a silence as she follows me to my office.

"Here you go." I say as I handed her the paper and opening the door for her. She grabs it with a smile but before I let go, I ask. "Do I ever interrupt anything. I mean do I ever intervene with my plans you may have or being occurring with calling out of the blue." I ask. "Honest answer."

She corned her lips as she tried to figure how to answer. "I'm not ever really doing anything. You normally never call during enforcement practices, and I hardly ever have plans. As a normal, regular pack member it's pretty cool for the Alpha to even know you exist when you blend with everyone else. It makes me feel noticed and useful." She answered.

I love that answer. Not that I was looking for a certain answer but that I didn't expect that one. A part of me makes me feel better and less of a gnat (A/N:a tiny fly that never leaves you the hell alone until you kill it -just for the people who didn't know).

I start to walk away when I feel like should definitely say what I'm thinking. "You don't blend in," I tell her honestly, "your intelligence is not the only thing that makes you stand out. You're a brilliant and skilled individual. You're no ordinary pack member trust me, you stand out more than you think you do and in a good way." Her cheeks slowly turns red, and her smile widens. I reach for a hug and she I start to hear her sniff. As I pull from the hug I see the glacier with a coat of tears covering her eyes.

"No ones ever told me this, I sit and feel invisible but am noticed by the Alpha." She croaked. "I'm going to get to work, but thank you so much." She smiled as she turned away from me holding the financial files under her arm.

I like that I made her feel good. It wasn't incentive, but something that I felt like she should know. I don't know if it made her day but I'm happy I could make her feel better than she was previously.

Jogging up the stairs I quiet as I hear Veronica talking, probably on the phone.

"... downstairs."

"...yes."

"...I don't know how many times that Lucy wasn't- yea but- you couldn't say anythi- ok ok... and then what? I leave?"

"...I'm happy." Maybe her mom called.

"...you're being a pain in the ass." She would never say that to her mom, no matter what.

"...I know a deal is a deal." I know she doesn't gamble.

"...money for what?" I try to hear for what the person on the phone is saying but I'm only capable of hearing Veronica, and I wish I was getting the full conversation.

"...ok fine."

"... but I'll miss Xavier." Hold on what? Time to enter.

I open the door and immediately getting Veronica attention. She looked shocked but tried to cover it with a smile. "Yea, I gotta go, I'll talk to you later?"

"You can stay on the phone." I say a bit too quickly.

"No it's fine, I wouldn't want to be on the phone and bother you." She said hanging up the phone.

"It wouldn't have bothered me." I come off a bit harder than I meant to, and she looks at me almost as if she can sense how unease I am. I just hope she doesn't pick up on how nosy I was and that I may have heard something.

"It's fine." She sat there and looked away from me. As a alpha lying should be easier and my stealth should be like cotton falling on carpet, my nerves under control and my senses stronger. My mate should not be to be able to detect my discomfort from me over hearing her end of a conversation. "So you got all the work done?" She asked.

"Yea, even the finances, but Abby is downstairs checking over them to make sure I did make any sense and it's written out and made sure I had the right formulas and shit." I smile.

"Wow, I'm proud of you. What motivated you to do the work?"

"If I'm being completely honest, the sex." She gave me a weird look. "I'm being serious. After, while you were starting to fall asleep, I thought about have good it was, and how good my life is and how good of a dad I'll have to be with setting examples and teaching him lessons in life and how to be Alpha one day too." I look into her eyes. "So I thought to myself let me get this work done, to impress my mate and someday my son."

She pecked my lips and put her hand on my shoulder as her arm reached down mine and interlocked our fingers together. Her thumb rubbing circles on mine as if it was something satisfying and relaxing to do.

"I love you, Xavier." I kiss her messy head of hair.

"I love you too, gorgeous."
