They say one action can start a chain reaction. They say that if you’re still breathing there is hope. They say heartbreak is inevitable. But what they don’t tell you is damage done unto a soul can never be reversed or healed. That why it is rare to find a Soul Reaper Shadow Keeper much less a Soul Reaping Hunter. They have the ability to rip ones soul from your body and do a lot of damage before they send the soul to Hades.
So that’s why, with all that I am, I am begging anyone to hear my plight and save my family from that torture. But of course, no one can hear me. They all but turned their backs to me. As I hang here waiting for the pain to begin, I can hear the screams echoing around us. This place has been used for centuries as a torture chamber, and all the whimpers and cries have forever been etched into its walls.
If they are smart they will start with the youngest, and let her elders watch her last breath leave her. But if they want new recruits, then they will break the strongest and threaten the others to the same fate. Although, with one of the most renowned Shadow Keeper family in their grasp I don’t know what they will do. I suppose waiting would be for the best, but then I was never graced with the gift of patience.
I let me senses wander, and I see that most of our enemy has left; only leaving two to guard the front and four to guard us. They might have frisked us for weapons before they chained us, but they didn’t do a very good job and they thought that human made chains would be able to hold us; that is an insult. I was chained with my arms up, hanging a good ten or so feet in the air.
I gathered all my strength; I needed this to work the first time, because it is going to be rather loud. I griped the chains, and then swung my feet up, executing a perfect hand stand in the air. Then, in rapid succession, I brought my knees to my chest and then with my hands and my entire body weight I pulled on the chains. The chains snapped and I landed on the floor with a clatter. Now comes the fun part.
I used my power to make the chains pop off my wrists just as the door to my cell opened and the four guards charged in. they circled me, one holding a broadsword, the other a mace, one with a spear, and the last one was holding a battle ax. They continued to move, I reached out one last time and saw that they hadn’t warned the other two guards, or sent them to tell their masters.
“Humph. You do know that little boys who play with fire…” I say lifting my hand and releasing my flames. “Get burned.” I lashed out at the closest one, he swung his mace but I duck under the blow and created a dagger to plunge into his gut. I ran the dagger all the way to his throat, and paired a couple blows from the man with the sword. I threw the dagger and it buried itself in his chest. I dodged more blows from both the spear and the ax in rapid succession until I grabbed the spear, flipped the man over my head where he landed with a sickening crack. The man with the ax took a second to look at his fallen bothers, wrong move. I jabbed the spear head in to his throat and through his neck; He looked at me in shock, blood running from his mouth, I just flicked my wrist and his head came off.
I gave myself a moment to regain my ground. Then I snatched the keys and whipped to the other cells. In a matter of thirty seconds, everyone was out and just adding the finishing touches to their wardrobe. Matt is ‘barrowing’ the broadsword and Angel has the spear. I found a stash of weapons; Penny grabbed a long bow and a full quiver of arrows, where as I snatched some knifes and some explosives.
Quietly we came up to the entrance where the two guards were lounging and joking around; not really taking their duty to heart. Matt and I silently walked up behind them and slit their throats. We gave the all clear and ran full speed to the house. We stopped short; the house was being burned to the ground. They were at least a little wise, knowing that the things that truly mattered wouldn’t burn.
