DANIELLE'S POINT OF VIEW:
I look out the rearview mirror, my eyes meeting Jackson's sorry face in the back seat, his eyes filled with despair as he looks out the windows.
"Woah woah, there's a group." Niall announces, and I open my eyes widely at the silhouettes walking in the street before us.
Only one face recognizable, Steven.
"That's Steven!" I call back to Jackson, looking for his eyes once again through the rearview mirror, and I find them this time, his eyebrows furrowed and looking around for my statement.
I pull up and press hard on the breaks just as we reach where the street group dives over the sides of the road to safety.
Steven.
Harry.
Louis.
Allison.
Lydia.
Kaya. All six of them were okay and well, standing before us like angels in the street, after Jackson had decided to catch Niall and I up on as we make the drive down to Lewes.
Jackson, Niall, and I had been in a similar situation to this only but miles back, the car stopping us on the side of the road, Perrie and Thomas jumping out like excited children to greet us, Perrie crying, Niall laughing, and everything being okay.
Perrie had met the people responsible for taking us to Lewes, Thomas in the vehicle with her, pulling up just now behind us.
They'd told me about Andrea, Kyle, and Liam, and what happened while Niall and I were unconsciously hanging out of the side of a building. Jackson doing just the same thing for the two of them and how we'd maybe made it just a little too late for Carly. The poor girl still aching in my memory, visibly at the back of Jackson's head also.
We stayed at a small house last night in order to get some rest, setting off at the right time this morning and catching up with the others unexpectantly.
I hand the jeep back off to Perrie for her to carry us along also, Niall, Jackson, and I taking she and Thomas's places in the back truck.
Steven practically throwing himself into the back of the truck, the others way close behind, and I lay back in comfort, Lewes only a few miles ahead, and the doubt in my mind still wanting to be present.
It's not over until I'm sleeping in a house, surrounded by safe walls, cuddling into Niall warmly.
With Niall on my mind, the boy's shoulder doing amazingly well for being shot with a straight up AK-47.
The rumours in the back of my head telling me that maybe it's almost over, and maybe it was a test, maybe it just was all a dream, but I push the thoughts to the side, staring out the window, oblivious to the world around me.
Almost stoned with happiness, I fall asleep, so easily, almost as if I passed out even. Niall sitting in the back with the man Brandy introduced us to, his name was Adam and he was a bit quiet, but handy with medical supplies.
Brandy, the tall, brunette woman driving next to me, Niall just diagonal from me in the back seat, just for me to look back occasionally to see his face and how he's doing.
I sleep for a while, and within what felt like just five minutes, a firm hand is shaking me awake, Niall's lightly tanned skin rubbing along my arm carefully.
"We made it." His hoarse voice whispers into my ear, and I look out my window to see Harry, Louis, and Lydia edging up close to a massive building before me.
Looking to my left, the sea, the prettiest thing I'd seen in a while, waves rushing onto the beach as the cold, shady morning reaches afternoon.
Trees and brush block off my view of further down the left side of the beach, and I can already tell inside, plenty of cute beach houses peeking over the sides of the giant wall.
