Seis
I was standing outside the Fletcher's house. I didn't know if I should confront Aaron about the poems. What if he's not M? What I should say to him about that? But what if my speculations were true? That he's M? What would I do about that?
I shook my head and decided to not ask him about it. If M wanted to be mysterious for now, I'd let him be. I spun around and headed for my house but then I heard the door opened.
"Carter?" Aaron emerged. What should I say now? "What are you doing out here?"
"Uh... Uh..." I was unable to form any coherent words. I could feel my face heating up. Aaron, with all his glory, was only wearing boxer shorts. He's popular, alright and I admit he's really handsome. But seeing him with only that, I think I was going to die of embarrassment.
I didn't bother to answer him anymore. I ran to the house, but since Aaron was quite the athlete, he was able to grab my hand before I could even step a foot in our front yard.
"Carter," he said. Why was my heart beating like this? He couldn't be M, right? No, he's not M.
I tried to convince my mind that he's not M. That he's not the one sending me those poems just to show me how much he likes me. No, I wouldn't believe that.
"Carter," he said again.
I yanked my hand away from his grasp and glared at him. "What?" I snapped.
"Whoa!" he raised both of his hands in defence. He winced slightly before saying, "Chill. Just want to know what you're doing there?" he pointed at their porch. He looked serious but there was a smirk hiding somewhere in his lips.
I glowered at him. "I was just..." I paused. Think, Carter.
"What?" he asked, an amusement filling his voice now. He crossed his arms over his chest and smirked at me. "Missed me?" he said.
I snorted at him. "Oh, please. Get your cockiness somewhere else. Psshh," I said, rolling my eyes.
"What are you doing there, then?"
"Your diary," was the thing I said. Okay, Carter, what's with the diary now?
"My diary? You're done with it?" he asked, his brows furrowing.
I opened my mouth to say something but closed it again when nothing came out. I jutted my hips to the side, crossing my arms over my chest. I narrowed my eyes at him and smiled wickedly.
"What?" he asked, confused. He looked scared, actually. I was so great in acting.
I smirked now. "You're a girl," I told him.
He had his mouth open. I think he was going to protest but I didn't let him talk.
I continued, "You know, I can use your diary to blackmail you, right?" I taunted.
His eyes widened as the thought sank in. "You wouldn't."
"Yes, I will... especially if you keep on teasing me or asking me to do your homework." Good thinking, Carter, I cheered myself.
