Diecisiete

I was waiting at the porch for Stephen. But all throughout that time, all the thing that was on my mind was thoughts of Aaron and the two kisses that we had yesterday. What was really happening to me?

After that kiss, I just told him to go home, sleep it off which he gladly obliged. He was grinning and it made me smile that the sadness I saw in his eyes was already gone.

How could I face Stephen, though, after what I did? I think he still thought that he was the one that I liked. And I knew that he was still the one I liked. Oh, come on, Carter. Why are you making your life complicated?

"Carter!" It was not Stephen nor Aaron who called me, but Kyle. And here's another trouble. Really. What did I do to deserve this?

"Hi," I greeted when he stopped below the porch.

"Where you going? Date?" he asked and I found myself chuckling. He had some bright aura that he always brings along with him. I kinda like the feeling. With Aaron and Stephen, there's always a tension, but with him, it's comfort.

"You can say that but no. Just going out with friends."

"Friends," he snorted. I raised an eyebrow at him. "Then you wouldn't mind if I ask you on a date tonight?" he asked now, hopeful.

I stared at him for a moment. I searched for something that might say he was just joking but there's none. Looks like he really meant it.

             "Date?" I blurted.

He chuckled, amused by my sudden outburst. "Yeah, date. I want to get to know you, you know."

"We can get to know each other now," I informed him. Yes, he's another trouble and an addition to my messy head.

"Ah, I'd like to get to know you more."

"We can do that here," I supplied once more.

But before he could say anything else, someone had called me. "Carter!" Samantha got out of Stephen's car and ran up to where I was. She hugged me tighter than I expected her to do. "I missed you so much!" she said.

"Hey, Sam." I patted her shoulder.

She pulled back and beamed a very bright smile at me. "Stephen said you're going on a date with him."

When she said that, I laughed forcefully as I saw Kyle shook his head. Could there be any more confusion in my life?

"I'll go now," Kyle mouthed to me as he seen that I was preoccupied with other things. I just nodded towards him before he walked back to his house.

Sam was saying something about movies and dinner. "...really. Thanks, Carter. Do you forgive me? I'm really sorry-"

"You're forgiven, Sam. You didn't nothing wrong so I don't want this to make any longer. I've been wanting to say that to you but there's so many things that been through me these days," I said.

She smiled. "Don't worry about it. I missed you, my friend. Let's go. Stephen said not to take long. He'll drop me back at my grandma's house before you two go on with your date."

We walked up to Stephen's car. I saw Aaron leaning on his door's threshold, arms crossed over his chest. I smiled at him before getting in.
