Chapter 5

Melanie's POV

"Cameron" I asked in horror by who stands before my very eyes.

Cameron was my abusive ex-boyfriend from Brisbane

"Hey babe how are you" he smirked coming over to me and tried to give me a hug, when he lifted his hand I fell to the floor cause I thought he was going to hurt me "oh baby your still scared" he laughed

"What are you doing here? How did you get in? Where's my mum? What did you do to her" I cried even harder then I was before and I rolled into a ball on the floor

is this reality or one big nightmare?

" I came to see you silly and your mum thinks were friends, I asked her if I could stay she said yes,and she's on a business trip" he chuckled and bent down to my level "you know I really missed you" he grinned and brushed a piece of hair behind my ear

"Well I sure as hell didn't miss you" I spat at him, anger taking over my body

"What the fuck did you just say" he yelled at me

not being able to handle him any longer I kicked him in the balls and rushed out of my room

I didn't know where to go, I only knew where Luke lived and he seemed pretty upset with me but in this circumstance he would probably understand, so I ran,I ran until my legs couldn't take it anymore and collapsed, I fell over at a park and soon everything went black

I woke up a few minutes later with my head in some blondes chicks lap as she tapped my face

"OH my god please wake up" she shrieked an continued tapping my forehead, I don't understand why

"What the fuck happened, one minute I was running and now I'm here" I groaned getting up and placing my hand on my head

"Well you were running from god knows what, or who and I looked over and you collapsed onto the floor, no one else was here so I ran over to help you, I tried to get into your phone to call someone but you had a pass code, it was about to call the ambulance but you woke up" she said in one breath, did that really just happen "come on let's take you home" she said

"No no no I can't go home any where but there" I started, I was nearly crying, I didn't want to go back to him

"Okay um want to come back to my place till we can get you sorted" she kindly asked, I just nodded my head and got up "I'm Tayler by the way she smiled and held out a hand

"Thank you so much and uh I'm Melanie" I smiled back and shook her hand

we walked to her car and we got in

"So what happened" she asked

"Well basically I was having a fun day it got ruined I ran home only to find out my abusive fucking ex-boyfriend came, I ran away and now were here" I sarcastically smiled "why does my life have to be so fucked up?" I asked bowing my head

"Hey, I'm sure it's not that bad, once we get through the bumpy part of the road it's going to be smooth...then after a while it'll get bumpy for a bit then go back to being smooth, depends on which road you take" she said,

I guess she's right, in a way, but this bumpy road is going to be a fucking long one. we were silent on the way back to her place, when we got there we went straight inside

"Got any one to call?" She asked

"Well yeah I guess, can I have your number incase I need someone again? I know we just met but, you seem really nice" I smiled

"Sure here you go" she handed me her phone and I put my number in hers then called myself and saved her number.

Bianca: Hey are you okay? You called me a lot

Mel: No, my life is so fucking shit

Bianca: Okay well I probably shouldn't tell you this but for the holidays next week I'm coming down for 2 months.. Surprise

Bianca: Fuck yes, I can't wait to see you again, I'll tell you everything that happened later bye

With that I stopped texting her and called luke as he was the only one who I knew where his house was, after a few rings he finally picked up

"Look Mel I'm so sor-" before he could finish I interrupted

"Are you home"

"Yeah why" he said with an obvious confused expression by the tone of his voice

"Are you alone"

"Yeah why" he said sounding more suspicious

"I'm coming over" with that I ended and asked Tayler to drop me off

when we arrived at Luke's house I was glad to be back somewhere familiar

"Well thank you for everything really, we need to stay in touch" I stated she nodded and with that I left and she drove away

I knocked on Luke's door and straight away it opened and Luke attacked me with a big hug

"I'm so sorry Mel I didn't mean to yell I just needed space" he tightened his arms around me

"It's alright Luke can we get inside" I tapped his back 3 times

"Sure, what's happening" he asked and shut the door behind him

we both sat down on the couch and I took a deep breath in

"Well basically after you yelled I was about to cry and I didn't want the boys to see me cry so I grabbed my sit and ran home, when I got home I opened the door to reveal my abusive ex-boyfriend behind there, he went to give me a hug, I fell to the floor and cried even more he touched me I yelled at him, ran away, I was running here until I collapsed, I woke up in some chicks arm, her name is Tayler, we went back to her place I called you and you know the rest" I said all in one breath, Luke looked at me with a shocked expression, he took a moment to comprehend what I just said

"Oh my gosh Melanie your staying here until he leaves" he stated as he hugged me again, tightly, it's nice to feel safe every once in a while.

"Thanks for caring Luke" I shot him a smile and he returned it

I was tired after all the running and crying today so I decided I wanted to go to bed early, I grabbed a pair of Luke's sweats and a t-shirt and fell asleep in his bed.
