Chapter 19

Melanie's POV

I woke up missing something, Calum's arm around me, where is he? He is always asleep.

"Calum" I asked, no reply. I got up and walked out to the lounge room where everyone was, but Calum wasn't there

"Guys where is Calum" I asked worryingly

"Don't know um he hasn't been here sorry" Tayler suspiciously answered

"Tayler where is he" I asked

"I'm here babe" he smiled and walked in, he opens his arms and I rush to him, instead of hugging him I lightly hit his chest

"Where the fuck were you, you scared the shit out of me" I mumbled

"At least you care" he chuckles and pulls me into a hug

"Well what if you left me" I pouted

"Okay I wouldn't leave you and I would get someone to punch me for leaving such an amazing girl like you" he smiled and cupped my face, I smiled and pecked his lips

"I love you calum" I smiled

"Love you too baby" he returned the smile. We sat with everyone and it was the usual, boring

"Guys we are on this trip and haven't done anything" Michael whined.

"Why don't we go canoeing? We have 7 canoes." Suggested Ashton.

"Yes! Good idea Ashton!" I exclaimed

"Well should we head off?" Said Luke

"Yup" We all said simultaneously.

We all got dressed into our swimmers and went downstairs. Michael showed us where the canoes were.

"DIBS ON THE BLUE ONE" said Michael. He ran over to it and tripped, we all laughed so much.

We all got down to the lake, the water was crystal clear and there was tiny fish swimming around.

I was standing admiring the water when two arms wrapped around my waist, picked me up and dragged me into the water. I turned around but it was no surprise that it was Calum.

"Fuck you hood" I gave him an evil smile

"Now now Melanie" he winked at me.

We all got in our canoes and started paddling down the lake. Ashton, Calum, Bianca and Tayler were at the front trying to race eachother while Luke, Michael and I were behind.

We were about 30 minutes into paddling when my arms began to get tired, I felt a bit dizzy too. I could feel my balance getting uneven, I think the heat was getting to me.

"C-Calum" I shouted as my vision became blurry and I tipped into the water. It felt as if my life flashed in front of my eyes, everything was silent, all I could see was black.

I felt my body being pulled upwards to the surface of the water. I got pulled up onto a sand bank while trying to breathe, everything was still black at this point. I got turned onto my side and I started to choke on all the water. Once all the water had gone out of my body I slowly opened my eyes. I was laying with my head in Luke's lap. Luke!? Where was Calum.

"Luke?"

"Melanie! Are you alright??"

"Yes Luke, did you rescue me?"

"Yeah, I heard you yell Calum's name but he was up the front and didn't hear you so I turned to see what was wrong and I caught a glimpse of you falling in the water and I went straight in after you"

"Aw Luke, you saved me, thank you so much" I sat up and gave Luke a long hug. It honestly felt so nice to hug him, but it wasn't Calum.

"MELANIE ARE YOU OKAY OH MY GOD" Calum yelled running over to me.

"Yeah cal, I'm fine, thanks to Luke" I said in a sarcastic tone.

It wasn't that I was angry that Luke saved me and Calum didn't it was just that when I yelled his name he was too busy messing around to acknowledge me.

"I think we should head back now, Mel needs some rest" said Luke.

"Yeah that's a good idea" I said smiling at Luke.

We paddled back to the house, with Calum and Luke not leaving my side.

We got back and I changed back into my flowy black summer dress and went and sat on the lounge outside.

Luke came outside and sat down next to me with a glass of water for me.

"Here Mel, this will do you good" Luke said while handing me the glass

"Luke, today you saved me,thank you so much, if it wasn't for you I could of been dead."

"Melanie of course I was going to save you"

"I think I need some rest" I said while drinking the last of my water.

"Yeah good idea Mel"

I stood up and started heading up to the bedroom, when Luke turned me around and hugged me.

I would usually push him off me but today was different, I pulled him closer. I guess I was just thankful that he saved me.
