*Adrianna's POV*
"What?" Adrian yells in anger. "How dare they?! Did they not learn their lesson? They know damn well what we had done to one of their precious puppets and yet they still had the audacity to kill Arianna and her mate?"Adrian paces in front of me. Muscles tensing and eyes glaring at anyone and everything. Pain and anger roll off his body like harsh waves. When I had left the cliff with Jacob and the cats, I immediately related the information I received from the cats to Adrian. And when we had returned, he started bombarding me with questions without giving need time to explain fully or even reply to him properly. To say he was furious was an understatement.
When Arianna was alive, Adrian and her were very close. I was close to them as well but our bond wasn't as strong enough as it is now. After she had died, we relied on each other since our father was in shock. He would lock himself up either in his office or room. Everyone of us could feel the sorrow and pain he felt as we were all connected to him. We were bonded to him, for he was the Alpha and our leader.
Arianna was the shy, cute, innocent and happy girl. You would never see her with a frown upon her face. And her smile was contagious. I missed her dearly. We all did until Aunt Chloe marched into the pack house 3 months after Arianna's death and scolded everyone for being so gloomy and miserable.
Chloe Maria Snow. My mother's elder sister by 7 years. She has a twisted sense of humor but, damn, she can inspire a fish to climb a tree. She is an entirely different force on her own. She has this aura around her that just makes you wanted to explode either out of pure happiness or pure hatred. It's quite the feeling indeed. Don't get the lady wrong. It's not that she didn't care for Arianna, she just didn't want anyone to be upset. The pack was falling apart when she came as a result of Father becoming depressed. But after she left 2 weeks later, we all wore smiles upon our faces. And not those fake ones but real ones. The smile that comes from your heart. A sincere smile.
We began to remember Arianna for the beautiful girl she was. We came to the understanding that she and her mate were in a better place and we were happy.
There was always something beneath Chloe's skin that she hid away from us all. I would have never known what it was had I not followed her to the one place I thought no one would ever discover...
"Adrianna!" Adrian shouts as he grabs me by my shoulders and shakes me violently. "Don't you care at all?! I'm discussing with you something of vital importence however you seem to worry more about something else than this!" He yells into my face.
I automatically growl at him and push him off me with such a force that he lands flat on his bum. He stares at me in shock before letting out a low angry growl of his own. And just like that the atmosphere in the room became tense. You could clearly hear the heartbeats of the other wolves, who had been silently observing us in confusion, beat faster against their ribcage.
"Do not tell me that I do not care, Adrian." My voice comes out, surprisingly, calm however it is clearly laced with anger at his disrespect. "I lost Arianna as well and though I may not have been as close to her as you were, I suffered more than you did. And you know that for a fact, Adrian. So don't you dare say that I do not care because you damn well know that I do."
Adrian looks at me with anger before shaking his head and slowly raising from the ground. He bows his head slightly in shame, knowing that what he had done was wrong.
I sigh and shake my head. "Go for a run, Adrian. Let off some steam. You need it. And be back before lunch today."
He nods his head slightly before turning around and walking out the door. "Leah." I call out.
