Gabby POV
It's been a few days after Nick became my fiancé. I can't believe this is actually happening. I'm going to get married to the love of my life! The day after, we went too Nick's family and told them the wonderful news. They all congratulated us and gave us hugs. I'm so happy they accept us completely. Mrs. Jonas already made us an appointment with a wedding coordinator. Nick and I are going to head there today to see what we can start setting up. Nick walked into the kitchen, "Hey beautiful." I rolled my eyes and smiled at him. He came up and kissed me, "How's breakfast coming?" I replied "Great, just finished! Ready to eat?" He smiled and started to set the table. I put the platter of food on the table and we ate.  Afterwards, Nick did the dishes while I got ready for the wedding planner. I wore my casual clothes and grabbed the notes that Mrs. Jonas and I discussed.  I quickly went downstairs and walked out the door with Nick.
Nick and I met with Mr. and Mrs. Jonas and the wedding planner to discuss all of the arrangements for the wedding. Nick held my hand as we chatted with his parents waiting for the planner to come in. "Hello! Sorry I'm late! I was held up in traffic." Said the wedding planner. She went on "My name is Rose Parker and I want to make all of your dreams come true. Let's get started shall we." She laid out a few pages of notes for all of us to look at. The first page talked about theme. She continued "So Gabby... I know that you two as a couple are a huge deal. What were you thinking for the theme of the wedding?" I smiled and glanced at my notes and ideas sheet, "Well, I was thinking, maybe a Great Gatsby theme or a winter wonderland theme. The only thing is... is that I want it to be glamorous but simple." She agreed. Mrs. Jonas chimed in "I feel like the Great Gatsby theme is more original, so do you mind if we do that?" I shrugged "Yeah that's good to me-" Nick glanced at me, assuring that he agreed with that theme. We all started looking for locations and other places we would want to host the wedding and reception. We bounced off some ideas for locations like Austin, Texas, Hawaii, Florida, and San Diego, but none of them seemed to fit. The wedding planner mentioned New York, Nick and I jumped to say no. Obviously, she does not pay much attention to the news or media.  We finally decided to have our wedding in Chicago. We found the perfect church and reception hall to have it in. The reason we decided Chicago was because we have no strong connections there and it would nice to get away from our hectic life in LA. We chatted on about flowers and ideas for centerpieces. The options of white flowers, feathers, and gold came into the conversation.  All this was just a bit too much for me. I mean I love helping plan my wedding, but there is just too much to it. I sighed letting Nick know I was done. Nick got the message and said "I think this is enough for today." The Rose was caught off guard. She quickly organized her papers and then pulled out a singular sheet. She finally said "Oh... Well to finish up, I need you all to give me names and addresses of everyone you want at your wedding. Now I'm going to assume both sets of parents are coming and your siblings?" Nick answered yes for his parents, but I sat quietly. My parents? I have not talked to my parents in a really long time. I don't think they even remember I'm their daughter. When I came back into reality, everyone was staring at me. I stuttered "Ummm... I... I Don't know if they are coming. I haven't... talked to them in a while." Mrs. Jonas looked upset. Rose awkwardly finished out our meeting and walked us out to our cars. Nick sat next to me and closed the door. We sat quietly for a moment. "You never really never talked about your family..." Nick said as he started the car. "I know... Sadly, we aren't very close anymore since I moved to LA. I'm sorry." Nick drove us towards home, still keeping the conversation going. "Can we talk about them?" I half-smiled "Sure. What do you want to know?" He started "Well, everything you want to share or that I need to know."  I hesitated "First, are you upset with me?" Nick smiled "No, but I'm just surprised we never really talked about them... I guess it's bad, huh?"  I nodded. He parked the car and we went inside.
As I walked in, Nick locked the door and then sat by me on the couch. Nick urged me to tell him what happened. I gave in:

"Mom!?....  Mom!?"
"Gabby! I'm in here!" said my mother as I searched the house for her.
She sat on the couch, quietly crying. I was so lost and concerned. I didn't know what to say.... What to do. I don't think I have ever seen her cry this hard. I stood perfectly straight, not moving a muscle. She finally held in her tears to say "Your father... He... He got into a car accident and.... "She continued to sob. Out of shock I quickly said "AND?"
She was completely still and whispered "and the doctor told me that he wasn't going to make it..." I grabbed my coat and my keys and asked "Where is he??? What hospital?? I want to see him!" She sat still... I knelt down in front of her, begging, "Tell me please." She finally said "Saint Anthony's Mercy Hospital. Emergency Room 224" I smiled at her, gave her a hug, and left to see my dad.
At the hospital, I ran through the halls looking for my dad's. I ran into a doctor, quickly apologized, and kept going until I found room 224. Pulling back the curtain, I see my dad. My eyes start to tear up as I looked at all of his bruises and bashes. "He's in a coma..." The doctor's voice made me jump. He continued "We don't think he's coming out of it... I'm really sorry." I broke down in tears. It can't be true... It just can't. I watched the doctor walk out of my father's room and then walked over to my dad. I held his hand and sat next to his bed. I wept "I know your ... leaving this world but,.... I just wanted to let you know ... that you are amazing and I love you. We all love you."

"I was there for hours and waited until he left me forever. I never really went home after that, but when I did my mother and I were too upset to speak or fighting the whole time. Ever since I came to LA, I have tried to text her but got no response. So... that's where I'm at."  I finished my story, while still lying with Nick on the couch. Nick just held me closer; I don't think he knew what to say.  We sat for a while before Nick finally said something, "Gabby... I'm so sorry about your dad." I looked at him "It's fine." Nick  didn't let go, just held me tighter, "Do you want your mom to come to the wedding?" I hesitated "Depends if we can find her."
