Determination (Sequel to Innocence)

Chapter 5

Laylana’s p.o.v

            Today is Aubrey’s birthday and her roommates, mine, and her friend Erica are all going to surprise her by going into her room and singing happy birthday.

            I want to be in the front so I can see her face because I guarantee she’ll groan and hide her face trying to fall back to sleep again. This is why I’ll beg her to get up and she’ll get up.

            “Is everyone here?” I ask whispering looking around in Aubrey’s dorm room.

            Everyone nods their head at me and I smile putting my finger over my lips. I walk to her door slowly and I turn the knob. I look inside of her room to see her soundlessly asleep, it’s perfect! Even though she’ll probably be pissed.

            I walk over to the edge of her bed where her back is turned to everyone and me. I stare at the outline of her body up and down until my sister nudges at my shoulder. I lift my hand in the air and guiding everyone with my fingers until it reaches to three and we all start singing. Aubrey jumps up holding her covers tight and screams. I laugh at her then I tell her to shh that it’s okay. Aubrey’s face turns red and that makes me laugh even more. She’s so cute when she’s embarrassed….

            I shake my head then I grab her hand pulling her out of bed and I notice she’s in boy shorts underwear which is longer than bikini underwear. I bite my lip staring down at her legs then I look at her staring at me. I smile

            “Happy birthday sleepyhead!” I yell and she squints her eyes. I laugh at her.

            “Yeah yeah…” she says wiping her eyes.

            Everybody walks over and hugs me and her together. I grunt shaking my head. I turn my head to look at Aubrey who’s wet… luscious lips are an inch away from mine.

            I clear my throat and walk away as soon as everyone backs off.

            “Hey guys, maybe you should let her put on her clothes…” I say standing outside of her room.

            “Sorry Aubrey…” everyone says to her. They walk out of her room shutting her door.

Aubrey’s p.o.v

            I stare at the door as everyone had shut it and I think about how close I was to Laylana’s lips…

            I take a deep breath and shake away the thoughts getting dressed.

            After I’m done getting dressed I walk out to see a lot of presents and I open my eyes wide.

            “Holy shit…” I say while everyone’s talking.

            Everyone’s attention turns to me and laughs.

            “Happy Birthday!” everyone yells and I walk over to the presents.

            There’s literally a whole huge stack of presents… I didn’t think I would get that many presents. Just everyone saying happy birthday to me was enough.

            I smile and stare at everyone to see who’s here then I look over at Laylee then I give her a smile. She smiles back at me and grabs my hand pulling me to the couch. I wonder what she’s doing until she makes me sit down, literally. I watch her walk away then I put my hands in my lap.
