In "Deception" Patrick and Layla were in a dysfunctional relationship, and struggled to raise their daughter Aria due to the major betrayal of their good friend Destini. After Aria was kidnapped Layla was able to see the decite but unfortunately not Patrick which led to him commiting sucide.
In this sequel, Aria has grown up and faces a bunch of troubles a certain percentage of 16 year old face today.
