✧ ice skating.

not a request but i was questioning my existence at 1:25 am and my mind somehow drifted off to cake and ice skating popped into my head and yeah + i think it's cute idk (ignore the lame ass title i couldn't think of anything else ok ill probably change it l8r)

Luke clutched tightly to Calum's arm with both of his hands, his fingernails digging through the material of Calum's sweater. He bite his lip as Calum dragged the both of them through the ice, feeling a quite embarrassed of himself as he saw little children skating by themselves as if they were fucking professional ice skaters. Luke wouldn't be surprised if one of them jumped into the air and landed perfectly on their feet like it was nothing.

He saw some moms giving him funny looks and he, being the self-conscious boy he is, decided to let go of Calum. If little kids can do it, he can do it. Right?

Calum raises his right eyebrow in surprise. "Are you sure?"

Luke rolls his eyes. "Yes, Calum. I'm capable of skating by myself."

Calum stifles a laugh. "I know you're capable, babe. But I still don't think it's a good idea."

Luke places his hands on Calum's chest. "I can do it."

"Okay." Calum says, but he still makes no effort on letting Luke go.

Luke begins laughing. "Calum, let me go. I can do it."

"If you insist."

Calum is hesitant but he reluctantly unwraps his arms from Luke's slender waist. Luke gives him a toothy grin and his heart melts at the sight no matter how times he has seen him smile. He stays close to the blonde boy, just in case.

Luke gulps and takes a deep breath, ignoring Calum's amused look. He watches the way the little kids seem to slightly bend their knees and lean forward. So he does it and starts moving forward, leaning on his weak foot and pushing with his strong one in a diagonal direction. Then, he's moving and Calum is laughing behind him.

"You can do it!" Calum shouts and Luke feels like he's flying.

"I can do it!" He cheers and mentally pats himself on his back. "Fuck you, little kids!"

And then, Luke finds himself tripping as he skated and he closes his eyes, ready for the impact. Closing his eyes may not have been the best idea because the second he pushed off his foot and glided he ended up falling and landing on his bum. He yelped in pain and Calum was quick to skate over and help him up. The blonde felt as if he broke his butt because when he tried to get up and skate he felt a sharp pain.

"You noodle, I knew you were going to fall." Calum said as he started to laugh. Luke scoffed and hit his sweater-clad chest with his hand. That just made Calum laugh more but he helped Luke completely up and started to drag him around the ice.

Luke gripped Calum's arm as they circled around the ice rink at a steady pace, not to fast and not too slow. The more times they went around the rink Luke wobbled less and less until the point where he was a bit steady on his own feet. His grip on Calum's arm loosened a bit, but not too much because he still wasn't confident enough to let go completely.

"You're doing good, not wobbling as much." Calum comments. Luke smiles in confidence and takes another try at the skating thing alone. He wasn't going to let those kids taunt him with their perfect skating.

He skated a bit ahead of Calum, not by much just in case he fell over on his back so Calum was close enough to catch him. He pushed all the force he had on his left leg and he glided across a wet piece of ice. He started to slip again, falling backwards but he felt a pair of strong arms catch him.

"The ice almost beat you that time." Calum smirked as he looked into Luke's eyes. The blonde blushed but got back up, deciding that the kids could win this won because he wasn't planning on breaking any ligaments that day.

The rest of their day was spent with Luke falling on his ass and Calum laughing at him because he thought the sight was cute, which resulted in many slaps across the chest. It was a win in the play book and the two boys were hoping to have many more fun days in the future.
