To Write Love on His Arms

Liam went into the powder room and I dropped off a few things in my bedroom and waited for him on the bed, flipping through television channels. When he emerged, the gauze from his arms were gone and he was scratching at his scabs.

"Stop that."

"They're so ugly." He replied.

I walked over to him and removed his hand from his arm so he would stop scratching. I gently glided my fingers over his cuts, making the hairs on his arm stand up. I pulled his arm up to my face and kissed his cuts. Kissing away the pain. When I finished, he looked at me in utter shock. "I think they're beautiful."

He cupped my face in his hands and kissed my lips. He turned, so that my body was pressed against the wall. Both of his arms rested against the wall on either side of my head as he pulled away. "Be my girlfriend." I was unsure if he was asking me or demanding me to, but I nodded, agreeing with either.

His lips latched onto mine only for a second before he grabbed my legs and threw me over his shoulder once again. I was laid down on his bed on my back and he climbed on top of me, kissing me again. Instinctively, I opened my mouth and invited him in. He ran his fingers through my hair and I tugged at the bottom of his shirt, silently begging for it to come off. Willingly complying, Liam pulled it over his head, exposing his toned muscles.

After an extreme make out session, Liam and I laid together on the bed. He rested his head on my body and I ran my fingers up and down his arm.

"I don't think I've ever felt so strongly before." Liam spoke after a few beats of silence.

"What do you mean?"

"The way I feel about you. It's just...I don't know, you're different. I...I'm not good with words, or feelings."

"I feel the same way about you." I say, after giving the idea a thought.

"Really?" He seemed shocked.

"Of course."

When I woke up, his back was turned to me, but I was snuggled in close to his bare upper body. I stretched my arms over my head and wiped the sleep from my eyes. Liam rolled over to face me.

"Good morning." He smiled at me.

"Did I wake you?"

"Nah. I've been awake."

"Oh."

"I'm going to call in sick to work...you know, until these things heal, I guess." He wouldn't talk about his cuts. I think he was ashamed of them, but I don't think he should be.

"I can do it for you." I offer.

"No, it's fine."

Liam got out of bed and picked up his jeans from the floor, digging around in the pockets for his phone before slipping the clothing over his legs.

"What do you work as anyways?" I question.

"Does it matter?" He snaps.

"I was just wondering."

"But does it matter?" He asks again in a more demanding tone. "What? Would you leave if you knew what I did?"

"No..." I fiddled with the hem of my shirt. "I mean, you know what I do, just figured I would ask."

"I'm different than you." He slipped his black shirt over his head.

"I know...but I...." I came up with nothing, and our conversation quickly ended once he started talking on the phone.

"Bill? Yeah, I don't think I can make it in all week..........no. I just got in a bit of an...um...accident................. Yeah, I'm fine, just lots of cuts and bruises. Alright, thanks man."

I was tempted to make a joke about how good of a liar he is but decided against it. "We have to go pick up your medicine today, I can drive you."

"I can drive myself."

"Your car is at your place."

"Fuck it." He huffs. "I don't even need medicine. I'm fine."

He takes a seat on my bed and I hurry to sit next to him.

"This isn't fine, bab- Liam." I quickly stopped myself from calling him babe, luckily. Would've made things awkward.

"What did you just call me?" His tone softened.

"Liam. I called you Liam." I felt my cheeks flush

"Before that."

"I don't know what you're talking about." He gave me a look. "Okay, I almost called you babe. I just, I don't know. It sounded right in my head but when I started to say it..."

"I like it."

"So, I was thinking we go and pick up your medicine and then we can go back to your house and you can get some clothes and come back here for the rest of the week? You're not supposed to be driving until you're used to the medication so I figured you could just stay here, with me, maybe?"

"That sounds great." He kissed my forehead before walking out of the room. I followed him to my car.
