April's POV
Wednesday Morning, Care of Magical Creatures
This was the first class we've had all together. I stood next to Draco, who didn't look at me directly. I could tell he was just trying to keep our relationship of the radar for now. Mira stood next to Neville, which made him blush. He still hadn't asked her out, which bothered me a little bit. Harry was standing away from Mira and I, talking with Ron and Hermione.
Hagrid hobbled towards us, and grinned at everyone. "Good mornin', class. How are ya'll?" He greeted, scratching his chin. Everyone nodded curtly. "Shall we make it to the clearin', then?"
We all followed Hagrid down to the clearing slowly. I was walking with Draco behind everyone else. I left my arms swinging beside me. Suddenly, a strong, warm hand grabbed mine. I looked down, and saw Draco clutching my hand. Luckily no one saw. Our fingers intertwined, and we walked slowly behind Mira and Neville. Mira glanced back, slowly. When she saw our hands together, she quickly turned her head back around, but I could tell she was grinning like a mad woman. Draco slowly let go, but I grabbed his hand again. He looked down and smiled.
When we arrived at the clearing, we formed a circle around the outskirts of the grassy area. Draco was standing on my left, while Mira was standing to the right of me. Hagrid grabbed a cage covered by a cloth. He seemed to pull it out of what seemed nowhere. He removed to cloth, to reveal a tiny baby dragon.
"Here, you see. This is a Chinese Fireball. Originated from China..." Hagrid continued to talk, but I wasn't paying attention. I kept stealing glances at Mira, who didn't seem to notice - at least I hope she didn't.
Mira's POV
"I'm going to remove it from the cage. Now don't be alarmed." Hagrid unlatched the door of the cage, and let the Chinese Fireball climb onto his hand. It made a small squeaking noise, and he put the cage down.
"I'm going to pass one 'round to each of ya." Everyone started talking to each other, whispering excitedly. Neville had moved away, and started talking to someone else. Harry scooted over to stand beside me, trying to be sly.
"Hey, Harry." I smiled. He sighed with a grin on his face.
"Hey, Mira." Right at that point, Hagrid had come over with one of the baby dragons in his hand.
"Be careful, kids. They grow." I held out my hand, and the Chinese Fireball fluttered over. I studied it as it crawled around my hand. Suddenly, it started to grow. No one else's had started growing. Ours grew rapidly. I let out a squeak when it fell out of my hand, falling to the ground. It was growing to the height of our knees.
"Holy-!" I backed up a bit, and bent down uneasily.
"Hey..." I said. Without any warning, it breathed a small puff of fire. I blocked my head with my arm, and it caught alight. The fire grazed my arm, and turned a bright pink.
"Ouch!" I cried, standing up while blowing my arm.
"Are you okay?" Harry asked, moving closer to me. I didn't pay much attention to him, just continued to blow my arm, trying to ease the stinging.
Hagrid hobbled over, and snatched the dragon away. "Are you alright?" He asked.
I nodded, and he turned around to calm the dragon. Harry took hold of my arm, and moved it around slowly. His face almost brushed against mine.
"Hey, Harry!" I heard. I looked up and saw Neville walking over. His face was almost a bright red with a scowl, aimed at Harry. Harry let go of my arm and I grabbed it, frowning.
"What are you doing to Mira?" I saw him assess my arm quickly. I glanced around, it looked like everyone was watching, as if a fight was going on. There would probably be one soon. Harry just glared at Neville.
"Guys! She's in pain! She needs Madam Pomfrey!" April called angrily while pulling my uninjured arm in tow as we made our way to the hospital wing.
