April's POV

Halloween.

I was sitting on the cold steps, waiting for Mira to come down from the dorm. She was still upstairs getting changed. I tapped my foot against the floor and gazed around. I finally heard her coming down the stairs, trying not to trip. I turned my attention towards her, and started laughing.

Mira smiled back. "What's so funny?" She asked, coming to stand in front of me.

"You look hilarious!"

Mira put her hands on her hips. She was wearing a full body tiger costume. She even had the hood on. They were also her pyjamas for when it was cold.

"What about you?" Mira looked me up and down while I followed her gaze. I was wearing a deep blue dress that flowed over my body. It hung just above my knees. On the dress was a bow, which had a small jewel on it. I was holding a dark coloured mask with shining sequins that caught the light.

"What's wrong with what I'm wearing?" I asked, looking at her painted face. She only drew the whiskers and the nose on.

She sighed delicately, "Nothing. You look beautiful." Mira smiled and stepped in for a hug.

"Woah, I love hugs and all, but you'll ruin my hair." I pointed to my freshly curled hair, which was still slightly warm.

Mira looked down at her shoeless feet. "I should probably put some shoes on." She turned on her heel and took two steps at a time back upstairs. I sat down again, flattening my dress against my legs.

Then I heard a knock at the door. I stood up quickly, brushed my dress down and checked myself in the nearby mirror. I grinned to myself and went to open the door. Draco was standing there, leaning against the door. He was wearing a three-piece suit, a top hat and a bright red cape which didn't match anything.

I smiled playfully, "Why the cape?"

I saw Neville trudging up the staircase behind him, breathing heavily. "That is one ridiculous staircase." He put his hands on his knees and started to catch his breath.

"A hero always gets the girl," Draco smirked and I laughed lightly.

"Come on in, Mira was just getting her shoes."

The boys walked in and plonked themselves into the couches. I heard thumping coming from upstairs. Mira appeared, wearing shoes this time.

"Oh, hey guys!" She exclaimed, smiling brightly. She slipped the hood off and came over to us. I heard the boys chuckle and  Mira sigh.

Mira's POV

I crossed my arms and glanced around the room. I watched as Neville stood up. He was dressed up in a three piece suit, just like Draco. Except he wasn't wearing a cape.

"You look so cute." Neville complimented.

I smiled and gave him a hug. He hugged me back tightly. "You too. Shall we go now?" I walked past Neville and over to April and Draco, feeling excitement flow through my veins.

April nodded enthusiastically, ''Yes please!''

Draco chuckled but opened the door for us. ''After you,'' He bowed all gentleman-like. April laughed but pulled him through the door, leaving me and Neville in the room.

''Come on then,'' Neville encouraged. I stepped into the corridor and followed after the other two, with Neville by my side.

April's POV

Apparating caused a weird, nauseous-like sensation in the pit of my stomach.

We landed in a park. It was dark already, and you could see the kids running about the streets. Draco's hand sort mine out quickly, pulling me into his grasp. ''Don't want you getting lost,'' He winked.

I smiled before looking around. ''Mira?'' I called out.

''Over here,'' Came her soft reply.

I tugged Draco over with me. ''Oh good. You guys are in one piece.''

Mira nodded, ''Yep.''

Neville popped up from the ground before he studied his surroundings. ''This feels weird,'' He muttered.

I shrugged before turning to Draco, ''Shall we?''

''One more thing,'' He answered, reaching into his pocket.

Draco's POV

I reached into my pocket, quickly pulling out a small case. April's eyes widened with curiosity. I pulled her closer to me, grinning.

''Happy birthday April,'' I whispered huskily into her ear.

She gasped, ''How did you know?''

I looked pointedly at Mira, she seemed to understand. I popped open the case, revealing a silver pendant in the shape of a snake.

''It's interesting,'' April laughed.

''It may not be....beautiful, It's a protection charm,'' I answered honestly.

''Oh.'' April said, ''I find it nice, anyway.''

I smiled before clasping it around her neck.

''Thankyou Draco!'' She hugged me, and I returned it happily.

Mira and Neville were staring at us, Mira looked really happy - like she would explode any minute.

''I love you April, remember that.''

She grinned before we started to make our way to the streets. ''I love you too, Draco.''

April loved me. She loved me.

For the rest of the night, I had a smile that nothing could wash away.
