I woke up, seeing Jirard and Mark picking up Suzy by her bodice and legs, carrying her out of the office. Tony and Matt came over to me and Matt knelt down in front of me. I looked at him. He looked away.
"Austin wants us in the main room. A meeting, he calls it, is in order," Matt whispered. I looked at Jordan and then to Tony. Sonja was standing there, Tony looking at her. He must have briefed her on what was going on, for she looked mortified. Tony looked down at me.
"You can take your time. Just don't tell Mark," Tony smiled at me. I grinned, but my body was so weak it was difficult to show the full smile I was wanting to show him. I sighed, inhaling the smell of Jordan's shirt, then stood with Matt's help. I walked around Jake's blood pool and down the hall past Arin and Sonja who started to follow me.
Just like at the start, there were chairs lined up in front of the stage, Austin and Ian standing next to the chair in center stage. Jake's dead body sat limp in the chair, his skin pale and his front covered in still drying blood. Splotches of red and brown covered the white of his shirt, and his black jacket was darker and way wetter than anything else. The worst part was that his eyes were open, staring lifelessly into the lights shining down above him.
I sat in the second seat with my name on the back written in what looked like blue crayon, seeing Jirard and Mark sit Suzy's body down and go back for Tom. They passed Matt and Tony carrying Jordan, going to set him next to me.
"Stop," Austin barked. "That's not his seat. He sits at the other end, remember? We have your names on the chairs! Get with the program, you idiotic free-thinkers!" The two sighed and picked Jordan back up, setting him in the last seat. The others came back with Tom and sat him down in his seat. Everyone sat.
Then, the bots walked on stage and stood around, watching us. Dodger was on Arin's back, for her legs were inoperable. Austin stepped forward and clapped his hands just as Matt sat down next to me. Sonja stood behind me, unsure really of what to do.
"Now!" Austin yelled, that smile uneasing, "we're all gathered here today to have a little meeting. To sort things out, if you will." He glared at Sonja. "Well, I will, because some of you don't seem to remember you places. Earlier I overheard Mr. PopTart saying something about 'us guards' and thought, well, that's amazing! Let's classify you all!"
"We have the guards: Matt, Mark, Danny, and Jordan," Ian pointed us all out, "and the dead children: Tom, Suzy, Tony, and Jirard."
"There are the robots, such as myself," Austin said, putting his hand to his chest, "Arin, Jon, Sonja, and Brooke..."
"And then the nightmare creatures," Ian grinned. "Tucker, Joey, myself. We considered adding Jake to our team, but I figured he'd be fine here, watching."
"Great, now can we go to bed?" Tony asked, sort of raising his hand.
"The guards can, but the children may not," Ian replied, sticking his chin out. "I'd rather see them suffer a bit."
"That's not fair," Tony said. "I'd like to get rest. I'm human like the guards."
"Doesn't mean I like you any less," Ian smiled. Tony glared at him. "Matt? How long does it take for the human to start decaying after brain death?"
Matt stared at Ian. I stood. Sonja covered her mouth.
"He's not dead," I said clearly, but calmly. "None of them are."
"You're right! A plus for Decker!" Austin laughed. He went over to Dodger and ripped out her wires, making her instantly start to scream. Jirard stood and everyone jolted. She fell off of Arin's back and to the floor, trying to move. She continued to scream, even screaming Jirard's name after glancing at him. Jirard ran to the stage and Ian smiled.
Ian put two fingers to the side of his head, making us all scream at him. He pulled them away and there was an explosion of brains and skull. Jirard screamed and fell back, the rest of us screaming.
"Now, Jake's plan from the beginning was to kill all of you off," Austin started, motioning towards us while Jirard cried and wiped blood off of him. "But we figured that if we killed all of them off," his arms went back, showing off everyone on stage, save for Ian, "we'd make your lives much worse."
"What did he even do to them?" Matt asked. I looked at him. He looked scared, but held himself so he seemed curious, as if wanting to join the current theme of killer Vsauce members.
Ian smiled at Matt. "He had people kidnap us. He knocked us out. And then he opened up our heads and started to rip out things and put things in, making it so he has total control over us, like how Michael had control over the children. He had us dressed up, trained to kill, and then gave some of us special things in our coding."
"What special things?"
"You tell me, Mr. Theorist." Ian chuckled and turned around, walking towards the back of the stage. Before he blended in with the dark, he put his hand on Joey's shoulder. He whispered something, but no one could hear it over Jirard's calming sobs. Mark was consoling him.
"Get some rest, guards. Children, good luck. We'll put you in the office. You get another night, for fun," Austin laughed loudly, making us stare at him with wide eyes. Arin and Jon climbed off of the stage and picked up Suzy and Tom, leaving Jordan in his seat. Jirard and Tony looked back at us as they followed.
I sat there with my mouth ajar, trying to get the courage to save them from an extra night, but I couldn't. I was so scared that I was glued to my seat with the crayon on the back. My tank top was soaked with blood and my jeans had holes in the knees already. I didn't know how they got there, but I assumed from running in them wore them out.
Matt looked at me as I hung my head and looked over at Jordan. His chest was still. His face was pale. I knew he was dead, but I didn't want to bring myself to agree with the fact. I actually didn't know the facts. It just looked like he was dead. I felt that he was dead. Who was to say I wasn't dead?
"C'mon, Matt," Mark said, standing next to the stage. I watched Arin pick up Dodger and the blood drip onto the stage down his arm and Dodger's head. He carried her away and Matt stood up. "We need to get some food and water." He looked at me. "Get some rest."
I stood, swaying on my feet, and walked to Jordan. Sitting in Mark's seat, I scooted closer to Jordan and rested my face on his arm, grabbing his hand. I somehow fell asleep like that, unable to get the image of Jake falling to the floor out of my head.
