Waking up on a Friday night in the hospital was never something I'd actually look forward to. When the door to my room opened and Nurse Jodi walked in with a smile on her face, I looked at the darkness outside and the man lying in the bed next to me. Tony turned a bit in his bed and the nurse sat me up.
"Good afternoon, Danny," Miss Jodi said with a cheery voice. She pushed up her glasses and stepped over to the food tray, setting it down and waiting for my reply. I smiled.
"And to you," I said, running my hands over the tray. "How's Matt doing?"
"Stephanie came earlier and saw him. I'm not his nurse, but Miss Heather said that he was doing much better. He'll have some nasty scars, that's for sure." She messed with some tubes in my arm and I shrugged.
"Scars are sexy," I said, looking at my own. My arm was healed fully from the last time, but it left an awesome line down my arm. The one on my head made me look like a knock off Harry Potter, which Jordan thought was cute.
"For sure, young man." She glanced over at Tony and smiled. "How's he doing?"
"I was asleep," I said, "so I don't know. He seems a lot better. Did the police find his hand?"
"Yes, they did, but he can't have it until he's released." She sort of frowned at that, but didn't seem to invested in it all. She was just being nice and doing her job. She changed out my liquids bag and tossed the empty bag away, changing out Tony's as well.
"Miss Jodi," I started, looking for my glasses, "is Jordan up yet?"
"I think so. He was waking up when I checked last and that was a couple rooms before I came in here."
"Has he been sleeping well?"
"Funny," she said, setting food onto my little table. I stared at the pudding and applesauce, then looked right at the french fries and burger. "He asks the same about you every time I see him. He's too nice for you, kid."
"I know," I smirked, feeling my face brighten.
"And yes, he's sleeping full hours. He got five this time, I think." Tony turned again. "His nightmares haven't gone 'way, and it seems like yours haven't either. You were screaming last night." That didn't surprise me, honestly.
I grabbed my burger and hesitated. "Miss Jodi, can leave my room and go see Jordan?" She looked at me and smiled, as if her heart was warmed by our admiration for each other. She set blankets at the foot of Tony's bed (where he never put his feet for he slept in a bundle constantly) and hummed.
"204," was all that she had to say. I lifted off my tray and swung my legs over my bed, careful not to bend my ankle for I had managed to bruise bone somehow after falling off the stage at some point. Not to mention the amount of glass I got in my feet in the excitement of leaving. I slid into my slippers, grabbing my IV stand in the process, and made my way out of the room, looking for 204. I was in 214, so I had to go a ways down the hall to get to him.
I passed up Jirard's room and Tom's room, Suzy in her own room by herself with Danny chilling out by the door, and I even saw Kevin Lieber walking down the hall with flowers, presumably for Suzy. I glared at him, and rightfully so.
I turned into 204 and saw Jordan and Mark sitting up, throwing pieces of balled up paper at each other, each with cups to see who could get the most baskets. I smiled and stood there, watching the two play as if nothing was wrong, as if the world was at peace, as if their lives had never been destroyed by the games.
"Danny!" Mark said, face lighting up once he spotted me. Jordan nailed Mark in the face and he made a face, making me laugh. I started to cough and nearly fell over, but I was able to make it to Jordan's bed before that was ever a possibility.
I climbed into the bed with Jordan and snuggled up to him under the warm blankets, resting my head on his shoulder and hugging him close. He hummed and smiled. Mark hit us with paper and Jordan bit at him, laying us back so we were comfortable, something he always did for me.
"You know what, Dan?" Jordan asked. I looked up at him and waited. "Hospital french fries are pretty shit tasting."
Mark and I began to laugh hard, the both of us finding that to be the honest and hilarious truth. Mark was laughing so hard he was coughing and I couldn't help but hide my face in Jordan's shirt, grabbing at his sides to make him laugh.
"Alright, jokers," another nurse said as she walked in. "Calm down. The police are here." I looked to see Miss Whitney standing there, playfully scowling at us. I knew she was happy to us happy. She was the one who had to calm me from my nightmares, something I do actually remember.
The police came in and someone slipped in after them, one of Matt's friends, Nate. He stepped in front of the two FBI looking guys and looked at the three of us. Jordan sat us up a tad, but not too much.
"So, you guys liked FNAF, right?"
"Yeah," Jordan said. He sounded angry.
"Well, I've got a full-"
"FNAF album. yeah. I have it. It's great. And so is your latest track, Inhale My Dong," I said, stopping him. "That's great. Now, the police, Nate. Sorry, but your music is a little less important right now. Sell it to someone else."
Nate stood there and nodded, still with that excited half-smile on his face He walked out, looking offended, but again, rightfully so. Jordan rubbed my back and I shook my head.
"Alright, Mr. Fischbach, Mr. Maron, and Mr. PopTart," one officer began, "tell us everything."
What I told them wasn't really everything, There was so much more to come, and much more than I ever bargained for....
