It wasn't often that I got captured, normally because people were typically smarter than that. Most didn't take the chance to see the 'what ifs' that tagged along with my destitute anger. So, one could imagine my surprise when I came to and was greeted by fermented, acrid breath. His yellowed teeth wouldn't have bothered me if they weren't the only glow in the dainty room. My body felt heavy, as if it were barely mine to own. Thick restraints bound my arms and legs to a wooden post, almost crucified, as I waited for the man to pass his judgment.

He resembled a normal old man: gray hair matted upon his head, cloudy and brilliant green eyes, gentle lines etched into his well aged face. He could've, if her tried to, won the heart of any kind person that wanted to help him.  He looked that kind. Thankfully, I wasn't that kind.

Most people wouldn't have noticed his soft green skin in this darkness, the sweat that swam down his body.  It was interesting, looking at him and knowing that he had only a few hours to live. We didn't share many words, but what could he have to say? What could I have to say? I was going to kill him. I was going to save Skylar and we were going to escape. It was that simple. There was nothing that he could've been done to change my mind.

"You're a... a hopeful one, I see." His voice was rusted, followed by several dry coughs as he reached down and picked up a snow globe. There was nothing special about it, some snow men, a house, a forest that was possibly too big for the glass ball but nothing alarming.

"Tell me child.... do you know where we are?" Boney fingers gestured around the dark room, his hunched back facing away from me as he made his way further into the darkness.

"Manus Nigrum." I guessed, looking around the dark enclosure. There wasn't anything really to guess off other than him. He looked like a typical Nigrumian. His gentle green skin, the yellow teeth that weren't entirely off putting, his interesting glance and glare. It wasn't a bad guess. The room, on the other hand, gave no hints to our whereabouts. The place was decorated with snow globes, ranging from all sizes.

"Ah, sadly child, you're wrong" He sympathized, bringing the globe back towards me and holding it before my eyes. "Let's try again.. and please, spare me the incorrections."

His soft green eyes shined behind the globe, daring me to be wrong but I wanted to kill him and he knew it. He was insulting my intelligence and laughing about it.

Calming myself down, I focused harder on the globe, seeing nothing at first, just artificial snow drifting around in the stagnant water, but then I saw her. Her small body walked freely throughout the globes, going in indefinite circles, frustration dripping off of her. She was wet, dirty, and alone.

Looking beyond the globe, I locked eyes with the sick creature before me, watching as he laughed out in gleeful bliss. There was Skylar, unbelievably close yet so far. She was stuck and there wasn't much that I could do, except watch her struggle with the impossible.

His laughter stopped abruptly, those soft eyes bending with rage.

"You wish to save her, don't you?! But how? You're bound here with me and all that rage and disgust will get you nowhere. Do you know how I've come to create my own realm?" Again, the snow globe was in my face, but he gave it a forced shake, making even my head ache. When my eyes focused again, she was in a different globe surrounded by children instead of snowmen.

"You were exiled. No man should have this power." I explained, maintaining his eyesight. There was a flicker of sorrow before he shielded himself again.

"That's too broad!" He groaned, hobbling over to a table and picking up a blade no larger than my pinky finger. "I know you know who I am and what I like, so when you dampen the details I get slightly offended." He explained, a mock pout on his thin lips.
