"I just needed to make sure you know what you're in for." The nurse tells me after closing the door and tucking her wispy hair behind her ear.
I just nod my head not knowing what to expect.
"I guess you know there will be a lot of puking. At anytime she could wake up and run to the bathroom, so it's essential that you don't leave anything laying on the ground for her to trip on. Also, she will probably not sleep that much. She'll be in pain a lot, so you need to be considerate of that. All of those symptoms lead to the worst one. Depression. Which, as you know, she already has and takes meds for. So if you don't think you can handle that, tell me now." She finishes looking straight into my eyes.
"I can do it." I say without hesitation.
She just looks at me for a second. "Okay. I'll be back later with her things."
"Thanks." I say watching her walk off. I take a deep breath and run a hand over my face. I can do it.
I turn the cold handle on the door and walk in to see her already asleep. Poor Lacy, she doesn't deserve all this shit. She amazes me with her strength and even though I try to annoy her, I really do envy her.
If I were in her shoes, I would have already ended my own life if I'm being honest. But she has fought- for years, and nothing I would ever do could amount to what she has done. I would never know the pain she has went through or even come close to knowing.
I walk up to the bed and take her small soft hand, giving it a small squeeze. It may not mean much to her since she's lost everything she's ever known, but she would always have me no matter what. I was in to deep now to back out and I didn't mind anymore.

"Don't cha wish your girlfriend was hot like me?" I sing. I know I looked really gay but it was worth it. Lacey was smiling at my idiocy.
"Oh my god, if you don't stop I'm going to pee myself." She giggles watching me with tear filled eyes.
I shake my hips and that does it for her, she presses her face into the pillow in her lap and claps like a seal.
I grin at her and turn the music off on my phone figuring that I really would make her piss herself if I continued any longer.
It takes Lacey a few minutes to calm down. So after a glass of water and deep breathes she finally speaks again.
"If you ever do that again I really will pee on you." She says sternly.
"Ok, ok." I hold my hands up in surrender and come to sit by her on her bed.
"Do you want to do something today?" I ask stealing one of her pillows which results in her throwing a remote at my crotch. I forgot how much she loves pillows.
I swear she had at least ten pillows scattered all over the bed.
"I don't know. Maybe?" She says sitting up straighter and stretching her arms.
"We could spend the day in the liquid nitrogen room." I say.
"Okay but if we get caught, this was all your idea." She was grinning cheekily.
"Technically it was." I smirk holding my hand out and standing up to pull her up.
She takes my hand. "How are we going to get fruit though?" She asks.
