"Pistachios are fucking awesome!" Lace giving a high five to Danny. It was honestly quite annoying, while they were having some type of bonding experience I was sitting alone in the corner flipping through a crappy magazine.

And you know what? Pistachios aren't even that good.

"Isn't it lunch hours?" I hear someone ask and look up to see Lacey's blue eyes looking at me. I glance at the watch on my wrist realizing that lunch hours for patients had begun nearly twenty minutes ago.

All three of us stand up and I end up walking in front of them while they talk side by side behind me.

I sigh in agitation before stomping to the lunch area and sitting in our normal seats. I was ready to stuff Danny in the vending machine and I'd only known him for and hour. That has to show what a horrible person I really was, I think my sister rubbed off her evil on me.

Soon enough Lacey sits beside me with Danny in tow and he sits in front of us.

"How long have you been volunteering here, Zayn?" Danny asks me. I didn't plan on telling him that I hadn't exactly volunteered willingly.

"About two months I guess." Wow, it had been that long. It seems like just a few days ago Lacey was propelling soggy marshmallows at me.

"That's cool." He says and the conversation pretty much does down after that, the only noises are the slurping noises of his straw when he drinks apple juice.

"How long have you had cancer?" Lace asks him and I nearly choke. Isn't that offensive to just ask someone how long they've been terminally ill, or maybe it wasn't..

"Going on four months now." He says looking off as though he was deep in his thoughts.

"That's sucks." I say, trying to nudge my way into the conversation, determined not to be left out once again.

"What about you?" He asks looking  at Lace.

"Over a year." She grins not seeming at all phased by her disease.

"Wow, that's a while." He raises his eyebrows. In the grand scheme of things it may not seem that long, but I knew it was brutal for her.

This was very short. I know this. The second part should be put up with in like ten seconds. Ok?
