As if my feet were glued to the ground I was frozen in place searching frantically for some kind of weapon, the pocket knife burned in my pocket but I wasn't going to stab anyone, kidnapper or not I didn't have the heart.
The sound of the old step at the bottom of this staircase creaking snapped me out of my thoughts and I darted towards the small closet nearly tripping over a broken wooden chair. I grabbed a piece of the chair and scrambled into the closet tucking the door closed. Just in time a figures shadow darkened the length of the room shading my view.
The sun wasn't quite bright enough to light up the room yet.
I held my breath as the figure moved around the room and I waited until there back was turned to make my move. I gripped the piece of wood tightly and burst from the closet putting all my strength into a blow over their back and then another on the head.
"WHERE IS MY SISTER YOU PSYCHOTIC ASSHOLE!" I screamed angrily reeling my arm back for another blow. The figure had raised their arms to cover their head.
"Damnit Victoria!" He yelled before turning around and catching the wooden piece in mid swing and ripping it from my hands.
Sam.
I stepped back sheepishly as he glared at me and rubbed his head where I had hit him. He crossed his arms and leaned against the wall a pissed off look resting on his face.
"What are you doing here?" He asked me with a terrifyingly calm voice. I looked up and stood my ground I wouldn't be intimidated by this goon.
"I came to look for clues as to where John's next hideout was." He raised an eyebrow at my answer.
"Oh is that right?"He pushed off the wall and moved closer to me.
"Yes."
"I do believe we agreed that you were NOT going to go alone and I was going with you."
"Well by the time we wou-"
"TOMORROW." Sam yelled cutting me off, I cowered slightly slamming my gaze back to the ground.
A silence faltered over the room.
"Victoria I didn't mean to yell I was just mad that you didn't wait for me, you could of gotten hurt." I brushed past him not meeting his eyes but with my back turned spoke before I left the room.
"She's all I have left." And with that I left expecting him to follow but thankfully he didn't. I climbed into my car that was now behind Sam's white black SUV and without looking back sped away.
I didn't want to go back to my house, what was the point? To sit there another night doing absolutely nothing?
I figured i'd go talk to the cop with the most amount of sense, Officer Moore. I sped up a little eager to get to the police station but right before I reached the road that the police station was located on a flashing series of red and blue lights reflected in my rearview mirrors.
"Damnit!" I exclaimed pulling off to the side of the road, I had seen enough cops to last me a lifetime in a matter of two days and now I was getting pulled over by one
The cop who approached my window looked familiar but I was sure I had never seen him before, I had never been involved with the cops until Amber's disappearance. His hair was dark and choppy looking right before his eyebrows and his five o'clock shadow lined his sharp jaw line, he was a handsome man but the familiarity I felt with him was unsettling.
"Hello Officer, how are you?" I spoke trying to look innocent but inside I was squirming under his gaze that burned through his sunglasses.
"Do you have any idea how fast you were going?" I scoffed typical cop answering a question with a question.
