I advanced my car towards a nearby club, with Jack on my left. The engine was loud but came to a conclusion beside the curb. Bright light glared throughout the city, illuminating it's surroundings. Buildings glowed in all assorts of colours, red, blue, yellow. As we walked towards the door, the volume beckoning from inside blared out. It was muffled but most of the time you could make out the words being projected from the speakers. We presented our ID's to the bouncer as he escorted is in. The music raged as I tried to collect my own thoughts. It felt almost impossible. I looked behind my shoulder, assuring Jack was still behind me. Judging by the crowd this wouldn't be an easy battle. I looked him in the eyes, down at his hands, and back up. I grasped his hand and maneuvered towards the bar section. I noticed him blushing after I grabbed his hand. I rested my hands on the counter, where as he leaned against the ledge.
"So, I never really got to ask,"
I smiled internally, but looked patient externally.
""Why are we here again?"
He asked looking around. My internal smile faded to a look of slight disappointment. I sighed heavily. But I decided for the better of both of us, to be... Happy. I should at least act happy for the sake of his health, right?
"We're here to get you drunk and have a good time, my friend."
He looked at me with a confused, but significant look before finally answering with,
"I'm always up for getting drunk!"
I laughed with him as we started to order drinks.
More and more drinks kept piling up our table. We ordered until our words slurred. Yet somehow, in this state, I was able to throw down the money for them, and call it quits. That is, until we wanted one more round...
By that time, I had somehow decided we'd finally had enough to cause a hangover by morning.
"Okay..."
I said, my words slurred throughout almost every sentence.
"I think we should go now..."
I reached over and grabbed my bag, when he put his hand on mine. I looked into his eyes, confused.
"Wait,"
Oh great, he was slurring worse than I was.
"Yes, Jack?"
"Thank you.. For all you've done so far... It means a lot more than you can see..."
I smiled at that. Knowing I was doing the right thing. Despite the fact that these more than likely no more than drunken words, I took it to heart. It made my stomach flutter. Why? I don't know. This was a strange feeling.
"Thanks Jack, those words made my night feel a lot better, and a little less awko taco."
I said laughing. I grabbed my bag and threw it over my shoulder, onto my other one. I was about to get out of the booth when he stopped me again.
"Y/n?"
I turned to look at him again. I acknowledged his words with eye contact before he said,
"Y/n, I think I'm in love with you..."
