MYTH #1: SUGAR DATING IS EASY

Sugar dating is like any other type of dating, it takes time, effort and perseverance to find suitable matches. The more criteria you have, the harder it becomes! Once you've found your Sugar Daddy, the hard work really begins, because you've got to find ways to keep hold of him and maintain his interest in you.

MYTH #2: YOU HAVE TO BE A MODEL IN ORDER TO BE A SUCCESSFUL SUGAR BABY

While there is a steady stream of (aspiring) models seeking their sugar fix, the majority of Sugar Babies are normal women; who come in all shapes, sizes and styles. While some Sugar Daddies want the glamourous uber-babe on their arm, others want the girl next door, the alternative art student, the redhead firecracker or the curvaceous cutie.

The point is: whatever you have to offer, there will be someone who wants it! Ensure you have flattering photos that reflect your style and genuine appearance and you won't go far wrong.

As an extension of this myth, it's a popular belief that you must wear a dress, heels and have perfect hair and makeup when meeting a Potential Sugar Daddy (POT). This simply isn't true. You need to ensure your clothes are suitable for your surroundings, but after that; a large part of sugaring is about self-confidence, so wear clothes that you feel comfortable and good in - your smile and personality should do the rest! However this isn't an excuse to skip on personal hygiene, but surely that's a given?!

MYTH #3: ALL SUGAR DADDIES ARE OLD OR UGLY

It's true; there are a large proportion of Sugar Daddies that fulfil both of these categories, however there are a few gems that slip through the net. There are also a number of guys in their 20's /30's /40's that are attractive and reasonably wealthy. Use your common sense though ladies: if you think he's a good catch, so will every other Sugar Baby in a 500 mile radius!

He's young and attractive and wants to make the most of it. He knows he sought after, so he's unlikely to be spending thousands on one girl when he could be spending hundreds on multiple girls, sampling the best the sugar bowl has to offer.

Don't despair, there's nothing wrong with entering a casual NSA arrangement with this guy to tide you over while you're searching for your ultimate arrangement. There's Mr Right, and Mr Right-for-right-now. Just don't expect this set-up to last much longer than a couple of months.

MYTH #4: ALL SUGAR BABIES ARE 'DITZY' AND 'STUPID'

While there are a small number of Sugar Babies who fulfil the stereotypical image of a ditz with a credit card, who's sole ambition is to own a pair of Louboutin's; the majority of Sugar Babies are intelligent, independent and ambitious. Many are graduates, entrepreneurs, business women and virtually all of them are witty, charming and capable of holding conversation.

MYTH #5: SUGARING IS NO DIFFERENT TO ESCORTING OR PROSTITUTION

This is a tricky one that boils down to interpretation and semantics. I'm not a legal professional; so this is purely based on my understanding of the law in regards to this situation.

Whether you agree with it or not, prostitution is illegal (in the US), that is why many Sugar Daddy matching sites are vehemently against 'pay per play' scenarios, because it is assumed you are agreeing to have sex in exchange for money - which is prostitution and illegal.

For example, if you read through the Seeking Arrangement blog and advice pages, they tell you very firmly that "sugar does not have a sex requirement" and that sex should not form part of the arrangement but come as a "natural progression" stemming from desire, not obligation. According to the law, this isn't prostitution and is perfectly legal.
