Hallie and I could have never imagined something as horrible as this to happen. When it does happen though, we felt like we were in a daze and we're continually asking if this is reality or a nightmare. But  then we never wake up and we realize that this is a terrible reality.

Once Mia's parents went upstairs to their bedroom, Hallie and I sat there questioning if the parents were telling us all there is to know.

"Was it me or did Charlotte seem like she knew more than she was saying?" Hallie asked me accusingly but with every right.

"I was just going to ask you. She seemed nervous about telling us too much."

"Exactly!" Hallie always got over excited when she was correct about something.

"There's something weird going on." I said confused as to why Charlotte wouldn't tell us the truth.

"I think we are on our own with-" Hallie wasn't able to finish her sentence when she got a text from Mia.  "OMG! It's a text from Mia. She's alive!!!"

Stunned and not sure what to say I was able to blurt out, "Lemme see!!!!" I was feeling relieved  and excitied and confused and all these other emotions that I couldn't even put in to words all at the same time.

The text read 'Girls I am okay. Just needed to find out some answers that I wasn't getting at home. i will be with family once I get to where I'm going. Please don't tell my parents. I think they are keeping secrets from me. Love you both to death. I'm so sorry.'

Hallie and I looked at each other somewhat in disbelief of what we were reading. But there was one thing we both agreed on. We needed to leave the house because if the parents were behind any of this we didn't want a part in it.

"Let's go." I said to Hallie grabbing my keys.

"Definitely..." I could hear so much worry in her voice.

We left quietly so Mia's parents wouldn't know we were suspicious. We seemed to go under the radar... for now.

Getting back to my house felt more than weird. Hallie and I both decided it would be a bad idea to be alone tonight or in this case early morning. It's about 4 am now and we are both exhausted but still unable to sleep.

What could Mia's text mean?

"Do you know of any other relatives that MIa has?" Hallie asked me while I was pouring us some water. I sat there and thought for a second because Mia nor her parents never talked about other family. So we were completely in the dark.

"I don't remember anyone saying anything about family outside her parents."

"I'm so confused and frustrated. Should we go to the police with this text message Taylor?"

"I don't know if Mia would want us to because then her parents would know she's on to something." I was so surprised at what I was saying. Not tell the police that this missing person isn't missing?! Could we get in trouble for this?! Ugh. I wish this would all go away and Mia would just come home.

"Let's text her beack begging her to come home and tell her what she's causing by doing this." Hallie nodded to my suggestion in agreement.

Our text read 'Mia there is this huge investigation now with everyone in the town looking for you. Hallie and I are both scared out of our minds for you. We haven't slept all night. Whatever this is that you are trying to figure out, let us help but please just come home first. Mia we love and miss you. Please listen. Please.'

We hoped that would be enough. But that was all we could do tonight. The last thing I remember is looking at the clock and it was 5:06 in the morning. Then Hallie and I both passed out from being so exhausted and since we knew now that Mia was okay we could actually sleep. Hopefully in the morning we would wake up to a response from Mia.
