It was almost as though we were magnets finally reunited, because before a full second could pass after his sentence, my lips were already pressed against his. I was leaning over the gear shift and my hands laid on either side of him on the seat and I could feel his pack of cigarettes in his left pocket as they touched the side of my wrist. Prior to that moment, my mind raced with thousands- millions of thoughts. As soon as we kissed, every thought vanished and it was almost as though we were floating in space and not sitting in front of another gas station. I could feel Leo's hand reach to the small of my back. I let my hand rest on his cheek which eventually slid down to his neck and as I passed his chest, I felt the thudding of his heart. And quite shortly after that, we both heard the thudding on the window. A plump middle aged woman stood there with her sunglasses pulled up from her eyes and her two hyper running kids. She raised her eyebrows at us in a manner that bluntly stated, "You two better stop before I make a scene." Leo charmingly smiled and raised his hand up in a, "Okay, ma'am. Sorry." and slightly laughing. I resigned back to my place in the passenger seat and fixed my shirt. My mouth was frozen in a massive smile that was about to laugh. Leo started backing out of the parking lot with one arm behind my seat and I began giggling. He turned and reacted to me with a smile. We only drove down the road for maybe a minute or two before Leo turned into an empty field and parked. Getting out of the car, I watched as he made his way around to my side. He knelt down beside my window, pressed his face against the glass, and looked at me. I kissed my finger and matched it with his squished lips. He lifted his face and took his finger, which curled in a way that invited me outside with him. I opened my door and stepped onto the half-dead grass. Leo looked at me and although he wasn't smiling with his mouth, I could see it in his eyes. In one swift motion he put his hands in my hair and began kissing me. All I could do was helplessly hold onto his arms which were holding onto me. He leaned against me as I leaned against the car and began to feel a rush of energy bolt through my body. We rolled along the side of the car until we were at the front of it, where he then placed his hands on my hips and guided me to sit atop the hood. Leo stood in between my legs and only kissed me slowly and sweetly from that point. One hand on my neck with his thumb on my cheek and the other on my thigh.
"I can't seem to stop kissing you, Wendy." Leo almost whispered.
"Neither can I." I smiled back.
Leo threw his head back in an exhale and sat next to me. He pulled his pack and lighter out and I watched as he drew out a cigarette. I think he noticed me watching because he smirked and said, "You wanna get your Lucky Strikes and join me?" I blushed, embarrassed he saw me clearly admiring him, although we only had just finished fumbling against an old car. I went inside the car and grabbed my pack and my milk, which, by that time, was luke warm.
I remember calling out to him, "Hey, can I turn the radio on?" To which he replied,
"Sure, Wendy." And the sweetness in his voice was so heavy that I felt I could blissfully drown in flowers if one could ever do so.
I put the keys in the ignition and resumed sitting next to him again. Two guys were talking politics on the radio and I drew a cigarette out, waiting for Leo to light it. An old song came on and I remember how excited he grew once he heard it. "I love this song." He paused. "I think it was about you all along. I dedicate it to you, right now. Wendy's Song." Leo flicked the lighter and lit my cigarette. I felt my face get hot and my heart speed up. I couldn't believe that with each moment, I was falling deeper and deeper in love with him. And in each moment, I could've sworn I couldn't fall any harder until he looked over at me again. I blew my smoke out and kissed him and when I withdrew, he simply looked at me and sang along with the song.
"And even though we ain't got money, I'm so in love with you honey. And everything will bring a chain of love. And in the morning, when I rise, you bring a tear of joy to my eyes and tell me everything is gonna be alright."
