Genna's POV:
I woke up the next morning, wondering why I couldn't hear Parker's snores from the room next door. Then I realized that my bed didn't feel right. I reached for my nightstand but it was gone. I bolted up, instantly awake from panic, but then realized where I was. I put my head in my hands, realizing how stupid I was. God, why why why did I pack everything and move? Why?
I should've just reacted like every normal teenage girl. I should've gone home and cried to The Notebook while eating a tub of ice cream in my room. Or ranting to my diary about how stupid boys were. But nooooooo. I just had to let my brain completely short out and let my temper take control of my actions.
That's gotten me into a shit load of trouble in the past, where I would just be so, so so angry at someone or something and I'd just let my actions take over.
It's not like it's uncommon in people, to act before they think. But for me... it's hard to explain.
It's as if I'm watching myself in a movie, and I'm powerless as I watch myself do something distructive. Like, I can't move, I can't speak or say anything to stop myself, I just have to stand by and watch until I realize what I'm doing.
If that makes any sense whatsoever.
I hear my phone ring and I jump, looking at the caller ID. It's Parker. I purse my lips angrily, wondering if I should answer or not. I felt a pang of guilt for Mary and Wes, and how I kind of left them without any warning whatsoever, well actually it was more than a pang. More like a searing jab through the heart. I should at least let them know I'm okay.
"Hello?" I ask. I hear Parker's sigh of relief on the end.
"Good, you didn't change your number." He said.
"I'm not coming back."
".....It's because of me."
"No shit."
"Well, thanks to you, mom's having panic attacks right now. Hope you're happy."
"Not thanks to me douchedick, who's the one that drove me away?!!"
"Look, I'm not going to fight you anymore. I was stupid, I should've listened. But I'm still....hurt." I frowned. Was Parker apologizing to me?
"Okay." I said slowly, not sure where he was going with this.
"I don't have much time on the phone before mom knows that I'm talking to someone. I'm guessing since you don't want her following you and tracking you down, we'd better not keep in contact. But...before I go, I just want you to know I still love you Genna. Maybe not in a romantic way, but I still love you. We should meet up sometime. Say, 4:30 AM behind the school?"
"Not behind. In front. Okay. Bye." I said shortly, dumbstruck.
If I wasn't already sitting down, I would've crumpled to the floor. After our huge fight, after I lied to him, betrayed him, kept secrets from him and almost tricked him into liking me so I wouldn't have to tell him the truth; he was still on my side. He was always my partner in crime.
