Broken Inside

Chapter 3

I love this so much. They are making me feel so welcome! I feel like I could tell them anything and trust them. Max is cute, funny and nice. And Ivy literally feels like my mom. I love it here. I don't want to leave.

"So, do you enjoy snow?" Max asks.

"Yeah. It's so pretty! And really cold. I haven't seen snow before I had moved here." I told them.

"I love snow too. Where were you before you moved here?" He asked.

"Florida. Jacksonville, Florida. It was nice, I guess. But too many alligators and crocodiles in my opinion." I said. They laughed a bit.

"Really? Did you ever see one up close?" asked Ivy.

"Yes actually. I was swimming in the lake and one was following me. I made a narrow escape. It almost bit my foot."

"Wow." she said. I could tell she was a bit shocked. I sipped my hot chocolate and nibbled on my brownie.

"Well it's getting late and I have school tomor-"

"OH MY GOSH I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT SCHOOL!" I screamed. They both jumped.

"Sorry." I said quietly. I was really embarrassed.

"You don't have to go tomorrow you can go Wednesday." Ivy said with a kind tone in her voice.

"Thank you."

"I'm going to go to bed. Goodnight." Max said as he hugged and kissed his mom and hugged me.

"Night." We both said.

"Okay hun, you should get some sleep. You've had a long day." she said to me.

"Okay. Thanks so much Ivy!" I said

"No problem. Oh! Take a glass of water. If you wake up your mouth will be dry." She said smiling.

"Alright." I replied.

"Goodnight!"

"Goodnight." I smiled.

I went to the bathroom, and washed my face. Crap. I have no makeup. It's okay, I mean I'm not going to school tomorrow. So I can grab some later in the day tomorrow. I brushed my teeth and headed into my room. I laid down and fell asleep within 5 minutes.

"Good morning!" Max said.

"Hey, you can come in if you want." I said while sitting up. He walked in and sat down.

"So, the bus comes at 7 and school starts at 7:30," I looked around for the clock, but couldn't find one.

"It's 6:45 if you were wondering. I'm leaving in like 5 minutes, because it takes 10 to get there. My mom gets up at 7:30 and makes breakfast and all that. So you can wait for her or I can show you were all the food is." He told me.

"I'm starving!" I told him laughing. He laughed too.

"Okay, come on." He led me to the kitchen and showed me where everything was.

"Got to go! See ya!" he ran out the door.

"Thanks! Have a good day at school!" I yelled.

"Bye!" he yelled back.

I made myself some eggs and a glass of orange juice. It was good.

"Hello!" Ivy said cheerfully.

"Hi!" I said back.

"How did you sleep? Was it warm enough? Was it comfortable? Was it-"

"I slept great!" I said in a happy tone.

"Good! So today, if you want, we can go get some clothes and makeup. If you wear it."

"That would be great. Again thank you so much for all that you have done. I'm so happy that you and Max are really nice." I told her. She blushed.

"Awwww. No problem." She smiled and started making herself some eggs.
