Chapter 13

I thought to myself. About my parents. About Kassie. About Max. About Ivy. About Annalise. I think it's Max's fault. When I was called up to the office he didn't look at me, but I could see a slight grin on his face. It's Max's fault. It is. It really is. Why would he do this? He knows my dad hurts me. 

I wanted to talk to Annalise. I want to call her. But do we have phones? Of course not. He thinks we will call for help. I wanted to talk to Annalise so bad. I want to get all my feelings out. I wanted to become best friends with her. Annalise was gorgeous too. She was perfect. I wish she could've been my sister.

I heard a scream. I looked down at Kassie, but then she bolted right up.

"What's wrong?" I asked

"Did you hear that?"

"Hear what?"

"That scream!"

"I thought that was you! I thought you screamed in your sleep, like you know a nightmare?"

"I don't think that was me Kylie. I really don't!" 

I looked around, but I saw nothing.

"Did you see that?" Kassie asked. She was concerned. 

"No, I didn't. What was I supposed to see?" I was so confused. What on earth was she talking about?

"There was a- never mind." 

"Are you sure? You can tell me. I promise I won' tell anyone. I sw-" Just then I was cut off by my mom. She walked in. She had an evil grin on her face. I looked at Kassie. She looked like a deer in headlights. She just stared at our mom.

"Where are we? And what are you doing with us?" I demanded, but she only laughed. I shook with fear. I looked at Kassie. She was frozen with fear. My mom did nothing. 

"I'm leaving. I'll be back in 3 days. Don't let them out." my dad said.

"Okay. I won't." she walked towards the window and watched him leave. She waited 20 minutes. She just stared out the window. She didn't talk or look at us.

Kassie looked at me.

I mouthed, "We will be fine." I didn't even know if what I said was true. 

She just nodded in reply. Her eyes had gotten glossy. She was going to cry. She was scared.

"Get up. Both of you." my mom demanded. We both did as she said. We stood up. 

She walked towards me. I took a step back in fear of her slapping me.

"Don't move away, I won't hurt you!" she told me.

I eyed Kassie. She had a confused look on her face.

"We need to get out of here, and fast," she said.

"Not on my watch!" I look towards the door. There was Max. MAX!

"MAX WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING? YOU DECIDED TO TURN ON ME! I THOUGHT I COULD TRUST YOU! I REALLY DID! BUT GUESS WHAT? I CAN'T. WHY WOULD YOU DO THIS? YOU WERE BULLIED. I TRIED TO HELP YOU I REALLY DID! I PROMISE I DID! YOU REALLY WERE HURT! SO I TRIED TO HELP YOU! I THOUGHT YOU LIKED ME! I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO HELP ME?" I screamed. 

He looked at me. He didn't do anything. He just stared at me. Then looked at my mom and Kassie.
