"Okay tell me what you are going to do". Emma barked at you. You rolled your eyes. "Again? We've been through this about a billion times! Okay. So I sneak into Jefferson's house. Kill him. Make it look like he attacked me. Then ring the sheriff's office. You will come and get me. Boom done". You rolled our eyes. "Yes, well done. You better not mess this up y/n. I need him gone." "Okay okay, chill. I'll get it done, Emma." You nodded before putting your gun and knife in your trench coat pocket.

"Alright. I'll see you in a bit, ay?" You called before exiting the little obnoxiously yellow bug. You gave her a sarcastic wave as she drove back to the Sheriff's office, getting ready for the plan to be put into action. You walked the last mile with your hood up as rain poured down. A perfect reflection of your grim, pissed off mood.

You saw the lights spilling from the Windows as you go neared your destination. The driveway was empty which was a good sign; if anything went wrong, he wouldn't be able to drive away. You cloaked yourself in the 'I'm lost and I need help' persona before climbing up the steps to the great looming house. You clutched your coat to your chest to resemble helplessness, and tried in vain to push the rain soaked hair that was plastered to your head. You feebly knocked at the door and emphasised the effect that the cold had on your body.

Within seconds the door opened to reveal a tall man wearing a burgundy scarf. This was the man you were sent to kill. This was your victim.

He looked at you shocked and as if he had seen a ghost. You snapped him out of his daze when you timidly said, "I'm so sorry mister, my car broke down and I've been trying to find a phone for over an hour. May I borrow yours?" Jefferson nodded and let you in without hesitation. "Come in, come in. You must be freezing". He fussed. "Just a little bit. I'll be fine in a bit. Thank you so much". You looked up from your feet and looked into his eyes for the first time. Suddenly it felt as if your mission was invalid. His topaz eyes sparkled like a summer's lake. His beautiful, delicate eyelashes, that had caught rogue rain drops, framed his eyes perfectly. "It's no problem miss..." "y/n Swan, and what is your name?" You sweetly smiled. But the smile wasn't fake like all the ones you had given over the years, this was a true smile, a pure smile, a rare smile. "Jefferson Hatter. Would you like some tea to warm you up?" He smiled back. You nodded. "Yes, if you don't mind". He headed off to the kitchen and you stood alone in the living room.

As Jefferson left, it was like that haze of light heartedness went with him. The stone cold persona came back. You remembered why you were there. To kill him. Not to drink tea with him. Not to laugh with him. Not to stare into those two gem like eyes and blush every time your eyes met. No. You must make his heart stop. To make the hopeful light behind his eyes go out. To turn that smile of happiness into a grimace of death.

"I bought some spare clothes in case you wanted to change. They might be a bit big but I thought that they would be better than your soaking clothes". He interrupted your train of thought when he walked into the room with a tray of tea and china and some clothes under his arm. The bubbly personality came back instantly. "Thank you so much Jefferson". You took the clothes from him and went into the room he pointed out to you and changed quickly, becoming more aware of the deadline for the job to be done.

His clothes were made of silk and exquisitely made. Many hues of blue wove together to make intricate designs that decorated the fabric. You breathed in this strangely familiar scent of tea and pine. Suddenly the world went black and a dreamlike vision took over.

"Y/n! Y/n!" He called. "Leave me alone Hatter! You heard what my mother said! She doesn't want me to be friends with you anymore. My father will go mad if he finds out!" You whisper/yelled at your best friend. Your parents had just found out about your friend ship with the portal jumper and didn't trust him at all, especially after he took you to Wonderland for a day which happened to be a week in the Enchanted Forest. Your mother; Snow White, and your father; King James, were furious. "Hatter please leave. My father will get mad and I don't want you to get hurt. Please my dear Hatter, leave." You loved him too much to get hurt and your father had threatened to imprison him if he was seen with you. "No, princess, I will not leave you. Runaway with me. We can travel the realms as we please. No one to stop us. They will never keep us apart. Never ever." He whispered and held you closer to him so your chest was flat against his. "I can't, Hatter. I can't leave. My mother and father risked their lives to save me from Regina, I can't leave them now. And what about my unborn sister? Who will be there for her? Hatter I will not leave my family. You do not abandon family". You were scared. If you were caught, Jefferson could be accused of kidnap and executed. It was a risk that you weren't willing to take. "What about me? Are you going to abandon me?" He asked mournfully. You wanted to hold him and tell him that all would be fine but you had to make him leave so that he would be safe. So you told the biggest lie that you were capable of saying. "I never needed you Jefferson. Why would I? I was bored okay? And I needed something to do. I felt sorry for you because you are all alone so I said that I cared. Now i am to become ruler of the Enchanted Forest, I am to become Queen and queens do not play around with commoners like you. So just go Jefferson. Before you embarrass yourself further!" You yelled at him, shoving him away. "I loved you" he choked, silent tears rolled down his face. Your heart broke. "Well what a waste of emotion!" You hissed before spinning around and leaving him alone in the forest. When you were sure that he was gone, you let out heart breaking sobs and collapsed into heap of tears and heartbreak, onto the undergrowth. You had made sure that Jefferson wouldn't be harmed by your father, but in doing so you, had broken two hearts that couldn't be repaired.
