Stiles was really suspicious of Theo, and we were talking to Dad about it in the Sheriff's Station's office before school that day.

"I know his family left town around the time Theo was nine or ten," Stiles told us. "His older sister died in an accident when he was eight."

"Please go to school," Dad told us.

"Dad, this kid's a werewolf," Stiles told him.

"Your best friend is a werewolf," I told him. "So is Liam. You are dating a werecoyote. Kira's a kitsune. Lydia's a banshee. I was an anchor that felt the pain that you and Scott and Allison felt because of a bond that was forged when the three of you went under the water to pass into bardo to find our parents. A bond, which I might add, started to take physical effect if the pain got too bad, and was broken when Kate killed me, which killed you and Scott, and Braedan brought me back to life, which also saved the two of you. We still don't know what the hell Parrish is, and we trust him anyway. You can at least give Theo a chance, Stiles."

"I don't wanna give Theo a chance," Stiles told us. "I don't trust the guy."

"Yeah, I didn't get any of what either of you just said," Dad told us, gesturing with his hand across the way. "When the flying monkeys come soaring through this station, you will have my undivided attention. Until then, just go to school."

I looked at Dad in confusion. "What did you do?"

"What?" Stiles asked.

"What do you mean, what did I do?" Dad asked.

I looked Dad over. "There's something different about you."

"What are you talking about?" Stiles asked.

I stepped closer, looking closely. "What is it? What's different?"

"For the love of God, just go to school," Dad told us.

"I will go if you promise to do a full background check of the Raekens," Stiles told him.

"No," Dad told us. "Know what? Just because I'm the only law enforcement officer who knows anything about this, does not make it my responsibility to do something every time you have a minor suspicion."

Stiles realized. "Except you're not the only one."

Stiles and I looked out of the windows of the office toward where Deputy Jordan Parrish was sitting at his desk in the main room.

Dad sighed, yelling. "Parrish!"

Parrish looked up toward us.

Stiles and I walked up the front stone steps of the school.

"So, Parrish ran the background check, and all he found was a speeding ticket," I told him. "Not seeing any red flags yet."

"Speeding ticket signed by Theo's dead eight years ago," Stiles told me.

"Which means what?" I asked.

Stiles turned to face me. "Who speeds? People trying to get away from something."

"Stiles, if Dad didn't get you out of speeding tickets, you would have 17," I told him. "I would have 10." Stiles didn't have a response for that, knowing I was right. "I don't know. I mean, I see why you're worried. He's really hot. He's got, like, great hair, perfect body. You should definitely feel threatened."

Stiles nodded sarcastically. "Thank you. Because I do. Now more than ever."

"Can we at least give him a shot?" I asked. "Just give him a chance, Stiles."
