Slightly Consequential (Slightly Awkward Series / Book Five / Teen Wolf)

CHAPTER EIGHT---Ouroboros

I was sitting on the concrete outside of the clinic after Theo and I had put out the fire.

Theo put his car back upright, looking at me. "We should get you to the hospital. You took in a lot of smoke."

I shook my head. "I'm fine." 

I sighed, standing, stepping closer, pulling out my phone, pulling up the police scanner app on my phone.

"What are you doing?" Theo asked.

"Seeing if anybody has a clue of the new missing body or any other freaking thing that's been going on tonight," I answered.

"Suspect in 187 is in custody and en route to station. Suspect's name is Yukimura, Kira."

Theo stepped closer in confusion. "What's a 187?"

I was in shock that Kira was a suspect for something like this. "Homicide."

The dead body had been found in the McCall house.

Melissa had found it, called it in, and was mad at Dad for not bending the rules when it came to cases involving the supernatural.

The dread doctors had taken Liam and Hayden.

The next day, the pack aside from Kira, Liam and Hayden were at Scott's house.

Mason had found another chimera named Cory. 

Stiles, Malia, Theo and I were waiting in the McCall house living room.

Scott walked in.

"Hey," Stiles told him. "Is Kira okay?"

Scott didn't answer, walking past us toward the stairs.

"Scott?" Theo asked.

We followed Scott up to his room, where Lydia and Mason were watching over Cory as he read a copy of the dread doctors book.

"Sorry, I'm only on chapter two," Cory told them. "I'm kind of a slow reader."

"Oh, that's okay, Cory," Mason told him.

"He's right," Scott told us. We don't have time for that, anyway."

Lydia knew what he was going to do. "No, Scott, don't!"

Scott ignored her, impaling Cory in the back of the neck with his claws.

Cory seemed to go into a trance like state.

Scott's eyes started to glow red.

Scott still had his claws in the back of Cory's neck. 

"Don't get too close," Lydia told us.

"What is he doing?" Theo asked.

"Tapping into Cory's memories," Lydia answered.

 "It's usually something only alphas do," I told them.

Theo slowly stepped further into the room, closer to the bathroom to keep his distance, looking at Scott and Cory. "Is it as dangerous as it looks?"

"Probably more," Stiles answered.

"Does anyone know if it's working?" Mason asked.

We didn't have an answer.
