Imagine..
Ever since you and Calum had moved into your new house, all you've wanted to do is decorate for Christmas. Ever night as you fell asleep in your old cramped apartment, your mind would fill of decoration ideas. Then every morning as you woke up in your same brown apartment, you grew more and more disappointed. So when Calum took you out to dinner and told you that he wanted to start looking at bigger places, you didn't have to give it a second thought.
So now here you were living in a suburban home with the only person you can imagine living in it with. Throughout the time you've been moved in the two of you have made the home the perfect mixture of you and Calum.
Now that it was Christmas your need for decorating grew more everyday. That time was finally here. From the moment you woke up you couldn't contain your excitement.
As soon as the sun started peeking through your curtains, your eyes fluttered open. Turning to Calum who was still sound asleep. His hair in a curly disarray on his forehead, pouty lips slightly parted and his arm lazily your waist.
That was a view you would never get tired of seeing. You could've lived anywhere and be completely happy knowing you would wake up next to Calum every morning.
You gently push the hair off of his forehead and place a soft kiss before getting up. Knowing he was a heavy sleeper you weren't as cautious once you started walking around the dimly lit room.
You take a quick shower and change into one of Calum's sweaters and a pair of your black leggings. Once you dry your hair you walk out of the bathroom. Calum still immobile and asleep you walk down to the kitchen.
Not being hungry you decide to just make two cups of coffee in hopes that it will wake Calum up.
Taking the two hot mugs you walk back upstairs and surprise to see some kind of movement on his side of the bed. You set the the two mugs on the side table and sit on your side of the bed facing him.
His brown eyes finally meet yours and a lazy smile grows on his mouth. The way the sun was coming through the window made his eyes sparkle and you couldn't help but fall in love with them all over again. He casually takes your hand in his and starts moving his thumb in small circles.
"You ready to help decorate.."you say with a cheesy grin.
Groaning he responds "No but i know you're going to make me anyway." he smiles slightly.
You place a quick kiss on his lips as a thank you and head to the crawl space to get the boxes of decorations. Leaving the bigger boxes for Calum, you bring your boxes down stairs. As you make your way into the living room you can't help but smile at your little Christmas tree in the corner.
A few minutes pass and your starting to lay everything out when you hear a few loud bangs coming from upstairs. Before you get the chance to ask what happened you hear a distant yell.
"Its okay its okay..just dropped a box." within 30 seconds or so he's carrying a bit box and cautiously walking down the stairs. As he reaches the bottom of the steps he walks over to you and clumsily sets down the box on the couch.
Laughing slightly "my muscle man" he hears you and expectantly smirks.
For the next few hours your home is slowly becoming more and more festive by the minute. To your surprise Calum was more into it than you thought. He would occasionally shout when something didn't look right or something didn't go together.
"No that looks stupid..the Santa should be by the elf people..NO not like that. It's okay i'll do it." not wanting you to get mad at him he would give you a little smile. However it was quite the opposite, you were happy to see Calum as excited as you were.
Once the last set of lights were hung, you had to take a step back so you can appreciate everything you two had accomplished. He wasn't nearly as moved by the lights, the thing he couldn't take his eyes off of were you.
He nonchalantly walked over to your radio and turned on "Baby it's Cold" knowing it was your favorite song for this time of year. You immediately noticed and turned to see him standing there smiling. You hadn't realized he walked away from you.
He walks over to you and stretches his arm out with his hand facing up, waiting for you to take it. Shaking your head at his sudden cheesiness you took it. He pulled you closer and started to sway to the rhythm of the song.
You laid your head on his broad shoulder and closed your eyes and got lost in the music. The swaying suddenly turned into the two of you hugging. His arms around you waist and his head buried in the crook of your neck and your head against his chest.
The lights stayed slightly lit around you and suddenly you felt like you were the only two people left in the world.
That night just made your need for Calum and your need to see him sleeping next to you and the need for you two to be in the same house grew.
You couldn't wait for the promising future of you and Calum. The possibility of having a family, watching them turn into the kind of person Calum is now. You couldn't wait for forever.
