They were silent for a long time each in their own thoughts neither willing to speak. She took one of her blankets and wrapped in it to keep from shivering. But she did not sleep nor did he. When the sun dawned the next morning everyone was given rations before Ezhno, Zaltana, and Kiche were sent off with some supplies to forge the way for them. The others all changed into wolf form to make it easier to run.

Tokala had all the things gathered before him, one bag of cloths, a roll of blankets, and a bag of food. She offered to carry the water skins, blankets and cloths because of their awkwardness before anyone could argue she had the water around her waist and the cloths and blankets in one roll on her back. Tokala just shook his head and changed allowing her to add his pants to the mix before grabbing the food and running on. The others followed him and she followed last. In wolf form he was a pure black except for a small red marks on the tip of his tail and chest. Behind him was Dyami and Chev running with almost no space between them. Behind them was Dabun, who was a tawny, running very closely to the slightly larger Oda, who was a light brown and grey, keeping a very close eye on her. Next came Orenda, the smallest of them all with her brown and grey fur, running closely to Bim a mix of dark and light browns. Following them was Misae, grey and white with splashes of brown on her top line, with Askook, a very deep brown that was almost black. At the back of the line was Dakota and Cano also running with very little space between them. The four of them had exactly the same dark grey backs with such soft grey underbellies. As she watched the pack in front of her she came to realize that the four worked almost as a singular entity running at the same clip the same strides with the exact same foot fall and motion, it was as though they were of one mind. Over all the whole clan was a well organized group.

They stopped for a break midday to allow the women to rest and drink, but only a few moments before they were off running again. It was just an hour before the sun sank into the horizon when Tokala had them stop. There was very little shelter here but it would suffice, they all shifted form and she turned her back while they dressed. Tokala handed out rations to while she passed around the water skins. When they had all eaten Tokala handed out the blankets. Orenda, Misae, and Dabun were each covered with three blankets and then held in the arms of their mates as they passed out from exhaustion. The brothers all curled close to one another to help protect them from the cold. Tokala neared her with three blankets.

“Here,” He said politely.

She shook her head, “Give it to the others, I have my coat.”

“But you should not freeze either.” She was too tired to fight so she took the blankets and placed them over the women before returning to her spot. “Why?”

“They work harder than I do. They deserve it,” she said lowering herself to the base of the tree.

“But with all that you carry and being in human form you work just as hard as they do,” Tokala sat near her.

She shook her head, “They are the future of the clan. Trust me they work so much harder.”

They were silent for a while watching the others drift to sleep. She was tired but Tokala still had something that he wanted to say by the way he watched her. Finally he spoke, “We can not keep calling you lone wolf or you all the time.”

“No that would get frustrating. What were you thinking?”

“I have not decided.”

“What are my choices?”

“Alo, Nova, or Peta

“Spirit guide, Butterfly, and Golden Eagle. Strange list.”

Why don’t you just tell him our real name?
