Chapter 3

Lucy pov

Lunch was over too quickly. By the end Gray had lost his clothes 4 times, Gajeel ate 3 sheets of steel, Levy had finished 5 books, and Ezra had scolded at least 50 different people for random things.

Between books, I had become good friends With Levy. We had chatted over books, me also being a book lover. She had read some of my favorites like The Testing by Veronica Roth, and Carry On by Rainbow Rowell. We also found that we had our next 2 classes together, Science and English.

So the 2 of us walked to science, taught by Mrs. Mira. Levy had warned me that our teacher had some weird thing for shipping her students together. But assured me that most of the guys in the class were already shipped with someone else so there was a small chance of having an issue with this.

When I walked into class I was greeted by a young teacher who surprisingly had white hair, which she tied up in a tight pony tail. She introduced herself as my science teacher and assured me that I wouldn't have too much to make up. What surprised me was that she Instantly sat me next to Natsu. Informing that he would be my science partner for the rest of the year. He smiled when he saw me sit down. He had a nice smile that was contagious so, of course, I smiled back.

Mrs. Mira walked to the front of the class and quieted everyone down.

"I'm happy to introduce you all to our new student Mrs. Lucy Heartfeila." Mrs. Mira guided everyone attention to me. Every turned to see who the teacher was talking about, ME. I felt my cheeks go bright red as I gave a little wave. I wish I could've hid under the desk and maybe dug my grave so I could die peacefully.

"Go on, Stand up and tell us a little about yourself." I hate being the center of attention.

"Oh, OK" I stood up awkwardly and looked to Levy for support. She smiled and gave me two thumbs up from her seat next to Gajeel who rolled his eyes and began to stare at the wall.

"Um? Well, as Mrs. Mira said, I'm Lucy Heartfeila. I'm 17. I enjoy a good book. I'm from the south part of Magnolia. I was homeschooled till just recently. when I decided to transfer here. Um, I think that is it" I quickly sat back down.

"Are you single?" A jerkish looking boy shouted from the back of the class. I blushed deeply and tried to crawl under my desk. Levy cringed. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Natsu laugh. I scowled at him and he stopped.

"That's enough." Mrs. Mira glared at the boy who had made the comment. He stopped laughing and looked nervous. I guess Mrs. Mira can be pretty scary.

"Now let's start class. Everyone pull out your textbooks and turn to pg. 265..."

It was the agonizing 5 minutes till the bell. We were quietly packing up our things eying the door and the clock on the wall carefully waiting to be done with this class but Mrs. Mira interrupted us.

"I almost forgot, It's that time of month again. Pick your partners and write a 3-page essay on a recent topic in science." I could hear groans from almost every on in the room, Including Natsu. I didn't groan. I, surprisingly, loved essays.

"Do you want to be partners?" I turned to see that Natsu is the one who asked. I was surprised that he would ask me, after just barely meeting me.

"Me?" I looked around to make sure he asked me and not just some random kid who was casually behind me. Thankfully there was no one there. He laughed.

"Yes, you."He continued to laugh. I blushed both from embarrassment and the fact that he had a hot laugh. It was deep and contagious, Just like his smile.

"Sure." I laughed a little too. He began to stop laughing.

"So, do you want to come over to my house after school?" He asked. "to work on it?" He quickly added.

"Sure" I agreed. I was happy we were going to work at his house. My house was a wreck. most of my boxes still weren't unpacked. and the ones that were, had their contents all over the floor. I heard someone clear their throat trying to get my attention.

"You don't have to do the project if you aren't ready to...." Mrs. Mira offered. I cut her off.

"No its fine its all right. I already have a partner."

Mrs. Mira looked confused. "Who?"

"Natsu." I pointed my thumb at him. He smirked and jokingly waved at Mrs. Mira as if she didn't know who I was talking about.

"Oh, really." Mrs. Mira smiled mischievously. "Well then. Carry on" She turned and walked back to her desk.

"That was..." I started

"Mrs.Mira " Natsu interrupted rolling his eyes. "she's always like that. Every time a girl and boy work together she thinks they're..." He looked like he was uncomfortable.

"Dating." I finished for him.

"Yeah. You'll get used to it." Suddenly the bell rang.

"Oh gotta go" I ran out of the room. my class was on the other side of the school.

"Wait" Someone shouted after me. I stopped. "Meet me at your locker."Natsu continued.

"Why?" I asked confused. I had to go to English.

"So we can work on the project. Duh" He explained. Oh he meant after school.

"oh, ok" I said bye and sprinted off towards English.
