I had just woken up and I was running late for a meeting with a client. For some odd reason, my alarm didn't go off this morning and now I am running late!
This isn't professional of me at all. The last time my alarm didn't go off was when I was in primary school. Oh gosh, this is definitely not professional, AT ALL! I have always liked being on time to every thing. But I guess today was totally different. This morning was just not my morning.
I was currently on the elevator going up to my office, to get things ready for the meeting with my client. My assistant has at least sent me about ten text messages to my phone. Asking me where I am. That "this isn't you!" "Where are you?" "Are you hurt?" "Answer me please!!" "Should I call the cops?"
You see, I normally always respond back to my assistant to relax her poor little mind. Poor thing probably thinks I'm dead. I give her a call saying that my alarm didn't go off this morning and to not worry that I was already heading up to the office.
I had just stepped out of the elevator and my assistant was quick to run up to me with my coffee in one hand and my binder in the other. I took both things from her hands and thanked her.
I walked into my office as my assistant opened it up for me. I placed my things on my desk and placed my purse under my desk. Next, I started to set everything up. I finished everything before my client could walk in.
I was looking through some emails when I heard was a knock at my door. I looked up from screen to see my assistant at the door with someone I haven't seen in three weeks. To my surprise it was, Zayn. I was quite flabbergasted.
My assistant cleared her throat and said, "Ms. Hadid, this is Mr. Malik."
So this is Mr. Malik, I thought to myself. My new client is Zayn.
"Hi Mr. Malik, please do sit down. Would you like coffee or water?"
Zayn smiled and sat down.
"You don't have to call me Mr. Malik. We do know each other Adriana. How are you by the way?"
I smiled back at him and said, "Well, you're my client and it wouldn't be so professional of me to not address you properly. And to answer your question I am fine. How about you? Do you want something to drink?"
"That's good to hear. I haven't spoken to you in awhile. And I'm doing just fine. Thanks for asking. I'm actually okay, but I am a bit hungry. Could I get something small to snack on?"
He shyly said.
"It has been awhile, since that night at the coffee shop? And of course! What would you like?"
I looked up at him and he seemed to be thinking quite hard about what he wanted to snack on, that is until I heard his stomach growl. And it was quite loud.
"Please excuse me. I wasn't expecting my stomach to growl. I guess I can't really hide my hunger. I have not had anything to eat this morning. I'm quite embarrassed now."
He chuckled and so did I. I said that he didn't need to apologise. I told him I hadn't had anything for breakfast either.
"Let me call my assistant and have her bring us some food. I suppose food would be better for our health."
He smiled and I dialed my assistant. I told her to bring us breakfast from the coffee shop we have in our building downstairs. And so she did. She informed me that she would have someone bring it up for us.
We got right into business. His father wanted Zayn to remodel one of the publishing houses he had handed to him. Zayn wasn't so sure about it at first, but I asked a few questions that would mean a lot to him about the new building, like smells, lighting, space, and comfort. I was able to sketch a few examples of what he might have in mind. He ended up liking all of the them.
The barista at the coffee shop had brought us almost everything they had at their shop. We right away began to eat our food. If my office didn't have three wooden walls and if instead my office had four glass walls, my employees would probably think we were savages. I didn't realise how hungry I was until I had smelled the food. Zayn on the other hand was eating like he hasn't ate in weeks.
Soon after we finished our breakfast we got right back to business.
"So I'll be doing some interior designing and more exterior designing for the building. I will have someone drop off the rest of the designs at your office tomorrow. Take a few days to look over them and let me know which one you like best for the building." I said as I pointed at the sketches I had drawn out earlier.
I told him that once he lets me know which one he liked the best, that I would get right into the elevations, sections and floor plans of the building. We both got up and I walked around the desk. I thanked him and he thanked me. We both hugged and I walked him out. He then he reminded me of the party he had invited both Harry and I to.
He said that it was an all black occasion. I said, "Oh no. I don't think I don't have any black to wear. Oh no! I might not be able to go because I don't have anything black that isn't my soul."
He laughed and called me an idiot. I laughed as well and walked him to the elevator.
"Goodbye, Adriana. I'm looking forward to seeing both you and Harry at my party. I'm quite excited to see the lucky lad. Tell him I said hi. And I'll give you a call once I have made my chose. Take good care of yourself Adriana." He leaned once more for a hug and gave me kiss a on the cheek.
I turned around once the elevator door closed and I was right away bombarded by my assistant.
"So you know Mr. Malik aka THEE Zayn Malik. The well known bachelor of London. Or in England for that matter! What?!"
"Yes, I do know Zayn. We met each other a few weeks ago. We are friends now."
"It looks like he's totally into you!"
"He is not. He knows that I'm engaged to Harry and by the way he said, he's talking to someone. That's all I can say. So shhh!" She shook her head and said that I was clueless.
